And now there’s yet another high-profile flap over an American flag display — this controversy coming out of Texas, where a huge red, white and blue mural was painted over supposedly because it didn’t match a new school’s chosen color scheme.
On Wednesday, Western Journalism reported on the judges in Portsmouth, Va., who ordered the sheriff there to remove an American flag display from the walls of the courthouse. That unique display — a tribute to the men and women dedicated to public safety in the city — was made from old fire hoses and presented by the fire department to the sheriff’s office.
As that tussle between Sheriff Bill Watson and the Portsmouth judges continues, this brouhaha over the Texas mural has gotten the attention of the “Fox and Friends” crew.
