Fox News’ Shepard Smith let NBC have it for their one-eighty regarding severing business ties with Donald Trump. On Tuesday, the network announced its former reality TV star will be hosting Saturday Night Live in November.
On June 29, shortly after the billionaire candidate announced his candidacy, NBCUniversal cut ties with Trump, citing his comments about illegal immigrants. “At NBC, respect and dignity for all people are cornerstones of our values. Due to the recent derogatory statements by Donald Trump regarding immigrants, NBCUniversal is ending its business relationship with Mr. Trump,” the company statement read.
The decision meant Trump would no longer be host of the successful Celebrity Apprentice (if he chose to come back) and ended the networks’ airing of the Miss USA and Miss Universe pageants. Trump said at the time, “If NBC is so weak and so foolish to not understand the serious illegal immigration problem in the United States, coupled with the horrendous and unfair trade deals we are making with Mexico, then their contract violating closure of Miss Universe/Miss USA will be determined in court.”

The network and The Donald seemed to have worked through their differences. Trump has since appeared multiple times on Today and is now slated to host Saturday Night Live on November 7.

For Shepard Smith, the reversal was just all too rich. He said:
NBC, of course, ended its relationship with Trump earlier this year because he said Mexican immigrants are rapists and that they bring drugs and crime, and NBC and everything Comcast — it did not want to be associated with Donald Trump, left all the money on the table, no more! We’ll have a fight about the Miss America contest!…No more Trump on NBC…so what’s he doing? He’s going back on NBC…Nice job, NBC. You made a stand, you stood for your values, you did what you must, forget the money, no more Trump! Except, more Trump.
The Fox News host ended his rant by mimicking NBC’s signature three-note chime: “Dumb dumb dumb. You did a great job! We’re all proud of you, NBC. We’ll be watching.”
