Did you know our government is spending your tax money to teach Islam in America’s prisons, where inmates are radicalized before being reintroduced into American society? Sound far-fetched, right? It’s NOT!
Obviously, prison inmates need to have access to religious professionals due to their situation and the desire to mold them into better citizens during their time in jail. However, this does not mean that correction system officials can be lax about who they are putting in front of these inmates who are in a very vulnerable position and could become a danger to fellow Americans upon release.
The Wall Street Journal does a good job of laying out the problem in an article describing threats against an Egyptian immigrant and that immigrant finding out later the Imam had been hired by the U.S. government to teach Islam to inmates.
Imagine my surprise when I learned recently that the man who threatened me with death for apostasy is being paid by the U.S. Justice Department to teach Islam in American jails.
According to records on the federal site USASpending.gov and first reported by Chuck Ross of the Daily Caller, the Federal Bureau of Prisons awarded Mr. Bayly a $10,500 contract in February 2014 to provide “religious services, leadership and guidance” to inmates at the Federal Correctional Institution in Cumberland, Md. Ten months later he received another federal contract, worth $2,400, to provide “Muslim classes for inmates” at the same prison.
This isn’t a story about one problematic imam, or about the misguided administration of a solitary prison. Several U.S. prison chaplains have been exposed in recent years as sympathetic to radical Islam, including Warith Deen Umar, who helped run the New York State Department of Correctional Services’ Islamic prison program for two decades, until 2000, and who praised the 9/11 hijackers in a 2003 interview with this newspaper.
The article goes on to explain that Congress over the past few years has raised the issue of radical Islam in our prison system, but little has been done to address the problem. Europe has long been aware of the problem of prisons being a breeding ground for Jihadis. Along with immigration illegalities committed by this administration, prisons could be another avenue for the Obama administration’s quest to change the demographic and religious nature of America.

Congress and the new administration in 2016 need to address this problem as soon as possible.
