When President Obama addresses the American people tonight (Wednesday) about his “strategy” for protecting the country against ISIS, the stakes will be sky high. As the Washington Post observes, Obama’s speech comes at a critical moment in his presidency:
He will address the nation at a time of record or near-record lows in public assessments of his performance. Only 43 percent of Americans say he is a strong leader, the lowest reading since he entered the White House. Just over half the country says his presidency has been a failure….
And now Chuck Todd, NBC’s Chief Political Correspondent who has just taken the reins of “Meet the Press,” comes out with a scathing assessment of the president’s shaky, “on the precipice” position. Todd, who just sat down with Obama for a lengthy one-on-one interview, tells MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” that this president is about to do the kind of damage to his party that a previous president did.
Watch (above) as Todd compares Barack Obama to Jimmy Carter…and the comparison is not at all flattering.
