A vote Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton cast during her time as a United States senator from New York may lead to her downfall.
President George W. Bush signed the Sarbanes-Oxley Act into law, widely considered to be one of the most far-reaching U.S. securities laws in years, in 2002, according to Legal Zoom. Sarbanes-Oxley introduced several changes to regulation of corporate governance and financial practice, a summary of the law states. It is divided into eleven “titles” and established a public accounting board.
One part of Sarbanes-Oxley is 18 U.S. Code 1519, pertaining to “Destruction, alteration, or falsification of records in Federal investigations and bankruptcy,” reported The Daily Mail. It reads as follows:
Whoever knowingly alters, destroys, mutilates, conceals, covers up, falsifies, or makes a false entry in any record, document, or tangible object with the intent to impede, obstruct, or influence the investigation or proper administration of any matter within the jurisdiction of any department or agency of the United States or any case filed under title 11, or in relation to or contemplation of any such matter or case, shall be fined under this title, imprisoned not more than 20 years, or both.
Clinton, who was in the Senate from 2000 to early 2009 before taking over as secretary of state, voted “yea” on Sarbanes-Oxley (the vote count was 99-0, with one not voting).

The former first lady is under investigation by the FBI for emails she received on her private server that could contain classified information. While the inspector general for the intelligence community believes the information was classified at the time the information was sent, the Clinton campaign and the State Department disagree. Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump told The Hollywood Reporter in a recent interview that the investigation facing his Democratic counterpart “could go on for years.”
Hillary has problems far greater than the nomination. If you look at what’s going on with the emails, it’s a fraud if you think about it. This looks like Watergate on steroids, frankly.
This isn’t something we’re going to solve tomorrow. This could go on for years. You can’t have a nominee who is under investigation. What are they going to do, run and then two nights before the presidential race she gets indicted?
General Petraeus, for doing 5 percent of what she did, his life has been destroyed. And it goes up to 20 years in prison. It’s from one to 20 years for what she did!
