Vladimir Putin is an angry man. We are seeing Russia flex her military muscles in a threatening way all over the world.
I spend a great deal of time in the former Soviet Union and the surrounding former Soviet republics as I report for multiple news outlets globally. The one thing I consistently encounter when speaking to Westerners is a tendency to seriously underestimate Russian President Vladimir Putin. Everyone is aware of his comments on the fall of the Soviet Union being the greatest tragedy of the twentieth century. He is also becoming irrational as he is driven by his anger and the nationalistic fervor of those around him.
Here is a recent quote from Putin:
“Russia does not wish for the chaos to spread, does not want war, and has no intention of starting one. However, today Russia sees the outbreak of global war as almost inevitable, is prepared for it, and is continuing to prepare for it. Russia does not war–nor does she fear it.”
Patriot Headquarters, a prepper site, asks, “Is a nuclear attack something that you’ve given much thought to? Does your family have an emergency evacuation plan should something that horrific occur?” Most Americans are nowhere near prepared for even a low scale nuclear blast. Food security will be foremost in people’s minds in this scenario. Patriot Headquarters goes on to say, “Stockpiling food is one of the no-brainers when you are prepping for a potential disaster. The nuclear scenario remains a horrifying possibility – thanks to our enemies who possess nuclear weapons and other countries trying to develop nuclear weapons.”

Putin will recreate the Russian empire. It’s not a question of if, but when. The territories surrounding the Russian Federation will be made to heel. Novorossiya, or New Russia, is just the latest domino to fall after portions of Georgia and the Crimean Peninsula. NATO members of the Baltics are at risk, as well as Poland and other former countries that lived behind the Iron Curtain.
Russian bomber aircraft are routinely penetrating Western European airspace. They also are probing U.S. airspace off the West Coast. Recently, Russia announced its long-range bombers will probe U.S. airspace in the Gulf of Mexico. These bombers carry nuclear weapons. The Russian military recently conducted a huge, large-scale military exercise with hundreds of thousands of troops all over the largest country in the world. Hundreds of aircraft, tanks, ships, and missile forces were exercised. These are not the actions of a man who seeks peace–quite the opposite.
The United States is not prepared for a nuclear attack and does not believe it could happen. I am not so sure. I think President Putin believes Obama is weak. I think Putin believes he has two years to make a change in the global order. He knows a strong president will be elected soon, so now is his best chance to make America heel as well. I believe he could very well pop off a nuke in Eastern Europe. The Europeans would kneel and Obama would run scared and, who knows, bow?

America is vulnerable in many ways to a macro-disaster such as this. Our power grid will be gone, our communications will be limited, and our food supply will be at risk. Many preppers make this one mistake consistently: Failing to keep food containers in a cool, dry place. Heat and moisture are two of the chief enemies of stored food.
I recently spoke to a Russian citizen living in Moscow. “We will have another Stalin,” they said with confidence. “Anyone who believes in democracy has left.” The fact is, Putin cannot go back. If he does, he will be deposed. He has to keep the anti-Western rhetoric going full-throttle. And he has to keep the bombers coming. The only question is when he will decide to use them. I ask again, are you ready?
