Clearly, the Dems decided that a long, contentious delay would cripple the Obama presidency (and maybe wound the economy as well). The verbal dung was indeed shovel-ready. Most of Nancy Pelosi’s liberal troops were not happy about the cuts made by the Senate, but rather than digging in her heels, she worked things out with Harry Reid.
