In the weeks leading up to the final diplomatic solution to Syria, Putin finally made his mark felt on the world, dithering just like Obama on taking steps to contain rogue nations. Putin’s jabs left Obama weakened, both domestically and internationally. Putin, after all, is an old KGB hand; they knew how to kill their opponents both literally and figuratively. Aiding Putin in his power play were Obama’s empty punches for Syria, leaving Putin refreshed and himself quite exhausted with the effort. Then the American public sent out some quiet punches Obama’s way, which further pummeled him. A split Congress added to the dilemma of Obama’s empty power.
