With Independence Day coming up this Friday, many Americans are getting excited for the fun, fellowship, and fireworks traditionally enjoyed on July 4 each year. However, it is important to remember the men and women fighting to keep the country safe and, indeed, free.
In an effort to include the many patriots serving so far away from home in this year’s 4th of July, Pizza 4 Patriots, a nonprofit organization, plans to deliver pizzas to our troops in Afghanistan this Friday. Master Sgt. Mark Evans, founder of the organization, spoke to Fox and Friends Sunday morning about their seven year-long mission:
“It’s just a sheer miracle that we can take care of the troops. I’ve had combat veterans contact us; and they said, ‘Here I am, a high-combat veteran, and I started to cry in front of my men to get pizza out in the desert.’”
Pizza 4 Patriots has their goal set to send 5,000 pizzas to over 30,000 troops and veterans. If they reach their goal, over one million pizza slices will be served to the brave soldiers.
“It’s a huge endeavor and we really need help,” said Evans.
Anyone interested in becoming a part of this mission can send their donations to pizzas4patriots.com.
