Madison Rising’s lead singer, Dave Bray, stopped by Western Journalism on his way to a gig in Scottsdale this past weekend to talk music and patriotism. Bray is a Navy veteran who wants to share the message that American culture is alive and well.
The band’s second album, American Hero, is dedicated to the men and women of our armed forces and first responders whose sacrifice and selfless dedication help keep America the land of the free and the home of the brave.
Madison Rising promotes the principles of liberty, independence, smaller government, and personal responsibility. Bray explained why the band is named after the fourth president of the United States:

We actually named the band after James Madison and we wanted to bring back sort of that emotion, that feeling that was going on at the time of his term in office – America’s at war. You know, we’re fighting the second Revolutionary War with England and we are, you know, rebuilding our country that we thought was already ours. So that’s when the Constitution and everything was forming up and one song that we’re known for is The Star Spangled Banner, was also written during that time.
