In 2009 — when he was still pretty much a speech-giving, promise-making, change-pledging White House newcomer — Barack Obama was awarded the prestigious Nobel Peace Prize.
Now, some five years later — when he’s proven to be a teleprompter-reading, promise-breaking, bomb-dropping golfer-in-chief — Barack Obama should be stripped of that Nobel honor. So says a majority of Americans polled by the Rasmussen organization.
As the winners of this year’s Nobel prizes continue to be announced this week, Rasmussen Reports has put its polling finger on the pulse of the country. The results for the Peace Prize president are not good:
Fifty-five percent (55%) of adults say that, six years into his presidency, President Obama still does not deserve the prize that he won in 2009. Twenty-six percent (26%) think he still deserves the prize. Another 18% are not sure.
The new survey also finds that most Americans think politics plays a big role in the awarding of the Peace Prize. That’s hardly surprising. But what is an eyebrow-raising result — by only a small majority do people in Obama’s own party believe he still deserves the honor.
Fifty-six percent (56%) of Democrats think Obama still deserves the Peace Prize, but 22% disagree and 22% are undecided. Most Republicans (89%) and adults not affiliated with either party (61%) don’t think he still deserves the prize.
As fitsnews.com reminds us, since his 2009 acceptance of the Peace Prize, Obama has attacked seven predominantly Muslim nations – Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Pakistan, Somalia, Syria and Yemen. And that’s not all:
In most of those cases, he acted without congressional authorization. Not only that, Obama’s administration has also participated in the unconstitutional overthrow of Ukraine’s democratically elected government.
