We’re not making this up. Popeye gained extraordinary power to beat up his opponents by downing a can of spinach. Now, President Obama’s EPA has decided to begin funding research into the use of spinach as a new energy resource! Who knew? Here’s to Popeye Power!
Last weekend, the EPA handed over $90,000 of our tax dollars to some students at Vanderbilt University to study how spinach can be used to generate electricity.
The EPA grant describes how the students are creating a biohybrid solar panel that “substitutes a protein from spinach for expensive silicon wafers that are energy intensive to produce, and is capable of producing electricity.”

First it was algae as Obama’s choice for the next biofuel nonsense. Now, the EPA is throwing away money on spinach as an energy resource. Hey, why bother with nuclear, coal, natural gas, or oil to fuel our economy when the eggheads at the EPA have decided that spinach is way to go!
