In an interview with C-SPAN’s Brian Lamb, former ABC White House correspondent Ann Compton revealed that President Obama went on an off-the-record “profanity-laced” tirade to the press for making too much of the non-scandal scandals and “not understanding” his limits when it comes to foreign policy:
[I have seen] Barack Obama really angry twice. Both were off-the-record times. One profanity-laced, where he thought the press was making too much of scandals that he didn’t think were scandals.
Another where he took us to task for not understanding the limits he has with foreign policy and the way he’s dealing with the Middle East and Iraq and Afghanistan.
Those non-scandals include Fast and Furious, the IRS-Tea Party audits, and Benghazi, which have severely damaged the self-declared most transparent administration in history.
Compton went on to tell Lamb that Obama was determined to stand up to the press and give us hell for our coverage of these issues.
When asked if Obama had a point, Compton said that the lack of accessibility to the President was to blame, and not the press:
We cover what we are allowed to cover. And when policy decisions and presidents are inaccessible and don’t take questions from the press on a regular basis, I think they reap what they sow.
And what he has sown are the seeds of destruction of the Democratic Party, based on the recent midterm election results.
