In an interview with the left-wing media watchdog Media Matters for America, Meet the Press host Chuck Todd said that Fox News is obsessed with media bias, and that, unlike the top-rated cable network’s hosts, he doesn’t have an agenda:
“I think their obsession with always — I think it’s amusing to me, their obsession with trying to make everything about media bias. Whatever story, whatever angle, whatever stories is out there, there’s always some sort of supposed media-bias angle to it. And I’m like, “Aren’t they the number one media — news media outlet on cable?”
Obsessed? What channel has Todd been watching? Fox news has certainly brought up the issue of media bias on their programs, but it hardly rises to the level of an “obsession,” as Todd stated. If anything, they don’t spend enough time talking about media bias.
Todd also criticized Fox for what he called the “Fox phenomenon” of having a straight news anchor interview a conservative without any balance from the other side on their roundtable panels:
“I can’t — I mean people that do that — that’s a Fox phenomenon. That’s not a — Fox may do that, but that’s their — they have an agenda. You know what I mean? I don’t do that. I don’t believe in that. If I’ve got a right-leaning voice, I need a left-leaning voice. Now, I think a bigger problem is — I think that all the shows need to reflect — it’s like, we go through this diversity checklist, right?”
The only problem is that Fox does a better job than the other Sunday morning shows in balancing their panels by inviting real liberals—such as Bob Woodward—as opposed to the pseudo conservatives the other shows use to give the impression that they’re balanced.
