According to Ottawa police, two or three gunmen were involved in a shootout near and inside Canadian Parliament Wednesday morning. Shooters were inside a parliament building and in the National War Memorial, killing one of the guards.
MSNBC’s coverage of the shooting was directed at gun control now being an issue in Canada.
“Canada has pretty tight gun control laws,” Canadian Press’ Lee-Anne Goodman said. “I think that’s going to become a debate.”
“How are these guys getting, apparently, double barreled rifles?” she asked.
“There’s an ongoing debate in Canada about the Harper government’s attempt to loosen gun control laws,” she continued. “So that’s going to become part of the conversation, I imagine, in the days following this.”
