After the tragedy involving 12 people being killed at Charlie Hedbo and the subsequent hostage situation just days after, the NHL’s Montreal Canadiens wanted to honor the victims by playing the French national anthem before their game against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

The gesture took place a day before almost two million people took part in the Paris march.
