Former Arkansas governor and recently departed Fox News host Mike Huckabee (R) criticized President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama for allowing their children – Malia and Sasha – to listen to Beyoncé while being “so careful” about what kinds of food they eat.

“I don’t understand how on one hand they can be such doting parents and so careful about the intake of everything – how much broccoli they eat and where they go to school and making sure they’re kind of sheltered and shielded from so many things,” Huckabee told People in an interview published Tuesday to promote his new book, God, Guns, Grits, and Gravy, “and yet they don’t see anything that might not be suitable for either a preteen or a teen in some of the lyrical content and choreography of Beyoncé, who has sort of a regular key to the [White House].”
The former Arkansas governor slammed Beyoncé in his new book for “obnoxious and toxic mental poison in the form of song lyrics” as well as dance moves “best left for the privacy of her bedroom,” People noted.
Huckabee did admit the Obamas “are excellent and exemplary parents in many ways.”

He told People that although he has been critical of pop stars like Beyoncé and Miley Cyrus, he is not advocating for any government-mandated censorship.
“Government shouldn’t try to dictate what art looks like or what it portrays. Last thing we want is government screwing it up, which is what they would do.”
