Tuesday marked history for Utah by electing the first ever black, Republican woman to Congress in US history on the same night that the Republican Party won back the Senate and made gains in the House.
After hearing of her victory, photographers caught her and her father celebrating.

“Thank you for the trust you have placed in me. I will work everyday to make sure I am deserving of it,” Love said in her victory speech.
“Let this be a lesson to the nation that we’re not interested in dividing Americans based on gender, race, social status. We are more interested in the integrity and honesty of a candidate, someone who is going to return power back to the people and away from Washington.”
