Former Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney recently castigated GOP front runner Donald Trump for his divisive and inflammatory rhetoric. It was rumored he might endorse Sen. Rubio for President. However, the UPI reports that Mitt Romney will campaign for Gov. John Kasich in preparation for the Ohio primary although no endorsement has been leaked to the news and reports don’t show any indication there is one coming.
Romney has previously recorded robocalls for both Kasich and Rubio in the past, but has not made any official endorsement. This will be the first time he will be actively on the campaign trail with a candidate. It is reported he will accompany Kasich for a town hall event in North Canton and an evening rally in Westerville on Monday. The Ohio primary will take place on March 15.
In his previous speech this past month, Romney impugned Trump by referring to him as a fraud and a phony. He called on Republican’s to support the GOP candidate most likely to defeat Donald Trump in the election, vowing to help the three candidates left in the campaign.

“I believe with all my heart and soul that we face another time for choosing, one that will have profound consequences for the Republican party and more importantly, for the country,” said Romney.
On Monday, Trump cancelled a rally in Florida and scheduled one in Youngstown, Ohio instead.
The alliance comes at an important time in the GOP primary. Many argue that if Kasich doesn’t win his home state of Ohio he will be forced to suspend his presidential bid.
