Earlier this week, ISIS released a horrific video showing Jordan air force pilot Lt. Muath al-Kaseasbeh being burned to death while confined in a cage. Conservative columnist Charles Krauthammer commented on Fox News Channel’s Special Report Tuesday that the Islamic State is trying to destabilize Jordan by intentionally drawing the Arab nation into a war that it will be unable to win on its own.
Jordan being drawn into a war, a direct war with ISIS is not a good thing for us. Jordan will not defeat ISIS on its own. It wouldn’t even defeat ISIS even if it had some coalition partners.
Krauthammer said that Jordan’s King Abdullah II is now on the spot after the pilot’s murder.

He has to do something intense, important, punishing and that will draw him in. And he’s got refugees from, of course, Palestine, but of course, Syria, Iraq. He’s got a lot of internal dissent which we have seen over the years. And this is a way to stir the cauldron in a country that is stable, was stable, but is easily destabilized. And that’s what ISIS is after.
Before dawn on Wednesday, Jordan executed two al-Qaeda prisoners in response to the video showing Lt. Muath al-Kaseasbeh being burned alive.
