John Kerry was making appearances on the various Sunday talk shows when he was caught on a hot microphone making some comments about Israel to an aide on the phone between interview segments.
The Secretary of State is seen and heard making comments about Israel’s “pinpoint operation.” Kerry was called out by Fox News Sunday host Chris Wallace by calling it “an extraordinary moment of diplomacy” and then played the clip for Kerry in which he said, “It’s a hell of a pinpoint operation. It’s a hell of a pinpoint operation. We’ve got to get over there. Thank you, John. I think, John, we ought to go tonight. I think if’s crazy to be sitting around.”
After the clip, Wallace asked Kerry if he thought the Israelis were going too far and if he indended to go back to the Middle East tonight. Kerry’s gave a much better answer than his previous hot mic remarks: “And we support Israel’s right to defend itself against rockets that continue to come in. Hamas has started this process of rocketing after Israel was trying to find the people who killed three young Israeli citizens. It’s disgraceful!”
