The people at the White House, including Vice President Joe Biden, believe the Democrats will hold the United States Senate, even though multiple forecasters have reported the contrary.
Biden told CNN’s Gloria Borger Monday his party will retain the upper chamber.
“I don’t agree with the oddsmakers. I predict we’re gonna keep the Senate.”
The Washington Post, The New York Times, The Huffington Post, and FiveThirtyEight are all confidently forecasting a GOP takeover in Tuesday’s election.
Naturally, Biden’s remarks sparked quite the debate on Twitter.
#THEFIVE Joe Biden said the democrats will keep the Senate. Did Joe study under Baghdad Bob?

Joe Biden predicts that Democrats keep the Senate. This is especially useful given how often Joe Biden is right about things… #sayfie

On Monday, White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest buttressed Biden’s predictions, arguing voters would “be supportive of a candidate who is fighting for policies that benefit middle-class families,” The Hill reports.
“So that is a very strong argument for Democrats to effectively make in the context campaign… They are also backed by a tried-and-true ground campaign strategy that, in the context of a very close race, can provide a 2 to 3-point margin that could eventually make up the difference.”
But Earnest also downplayed the results, giving a nod to several election forecasting models:
“The electorate is different this time than it is in a traditional presidential election.
“It would not be wise to draw as broad a conclusion about the outcome of this election as you would from a national presidential election, simply by virtue of the map and the states where this contest is taking place.”
