CNN president Jeff Zucker, who has struggled to revive the network’s ratings, said on Monday that he was “open” to the idea of airing scripted movies in the future.
Zucker, who was speaking at a press lunch in Los Angeles to promote future documentaries from CNN Films, said in response to a question that there were no imminent plans to air such films, but that he “would not be opposed to that.”
Since taking over CNN nearly two years ago, Zucker has tinkered with the programming with little success, and is now moving the network away from hard news to instead focus on breaking news, regular series, and documentaries, in an attempt to find a little ratings gold.

With CNN battling MSNBC for Fox News’ ratings scraps, don’t be surprised if Zucker starts showing up at Sundance and other film festivals in the near future.
