Former Saturday Night Live (SNL) cast member Victoria Jackson is disputing a report that made her appear to say she was put into an overflow room during the comedy show’s 40th anniversary show because of her conservative views. Jackson is an evangelical Christian.
Jackson, who was on SNL from 1986 to 1992, appeared on Inside Edition after the show’s 40th anniversary special, which aired last weekend. When asked why was she was seated in an overflow room instead of the live show studio, Jackson said, “I don’t know…I mean, it could have been a bracelet mistake, or maybe I smelled bad.” Different colored bracelets, Jackson explained, were given out to guests at the event.
Inside Edition said Jackson was exiled from the studio because of her personal beliefs. “This is not truthful,” Jackson wrote on her personal blog. “There was no ‘drama.’ I was placed in an ‘overflow room’ but didn’t pay much attention to it until Robert Smigel came in there for some food, saw me, and asked why I was sitting there for the past 2 ½ hours.” She continued:
I told him that the usher looked at my bracelet and told me to sit here, pretty strict about it too. Smigel pointed out that I was the only cast member in the ‘overflow’ room and Smigel insisted I go back with him to Studio 8H.
Jackson has called President Obama a communist and has suggested the television program Glee be taken off the air in favor of a show that promotes celibacy. Still, Jackson maintains she did not say her views had anything to do with being put into an overflow room.

“I did not tell Inside Edition that I was in the overflow room because I am a conservative. I may have implied it by referencing the Constitution and the Bible… and it did cross my mind,” she said. “But Sarah Palin and Trump were in [Studio] 8H, the main room. They’re conservatives. Inside Edition says I was ‘kept away from other cast members.’ Not true… Inside Edition fudged.”
So, it’s still a mystery. Did Lorne Michaels’ beautiful 20-year-old-assistant make a mistake and hand me the wrong bracelet? (Bracelets were handed out telling the ushers/security team which room you were assigned to). Was I blacklisted for disagreeing with the president/media’s ideology? Was it because I am a Christian?
Is it because I believe in the biblical definition of marriage and publicly spoke out against homosexual themes in prime time TV shows? Is Lorne ashamed of me? What do you think?
