In recent years, the Left have left very little doubt as to where they stand with God and gun ownership in America. Three years ago in September 2012, the Democratic National Convention was held in Charlotte, NC. The delegates removed any reference to “God” (video) from their platform during the convention.
Now, it appears, if Hillary Clinton is elected president, she will go after the nation’s guns. The question this time came from an elderly attendee during an October 16th town hall meeting at Keene State College. The woman was reading from a card when she asked, “[Regarding] handguns…Australia recently managed to take away tens of thousands–even millions–of handguns, and in one year they were all gone. Can we do that? And if we can’t, why can’t we?”

You know, Australia’s a good example, Canada’s a good example, [and] the UK’s a good example. Why? Because each of them had mass killings, Australia had a huge mass killing about 20 or 25 years ago. Canada did as well, so did the UK. In reaction, they passed much stricter gun laws. In the Australian example, as I recall, that was a buy-back program. The Australian government as part of trying to clamp down on the availability of…weapons offered a good price for buying hundreds of thousands of guns and basically clamped down going forward, in terms of having more of a background check approach–more of a permitting approach.

It appears as though the U.S. Constitution’s Second Amendment prohibitions on infringement to “keep and bear arms” would be under assault in a Clinton presidency, much like it has been under the Obama administration. Notably absent from Clinton’s response to the question was any reference on how to remove guns from the hands of terrorists and criminals, those most likely to break any gun laws enacted. The American people’s rights to own guns would most likely be taken away if the U.S. follows the model put forth in Clinton’s response. While it is true that the U.S. leads the world in gun ownership statistics, the U.S. does not lead the world in the number of homicides per 100,000 people. The countries leading the world in homicide are Mexico, Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador, South Africa, Belize, Columbia, and Venezuela, where crime runs rampant and people are defenseless.
