As if the Republican race for the presidency couldn’t get any uglier, the two leading Republicans are slinging mud at each other and this time the comments involve each other’s wives. Responding to an anti-Trump super PAC ad which showed Melania Trump posing nude for a GQ spread, Trump tweeted an angry threat to Sen. Ted Cruz.
Trump tweeted, “Lyin’ Ted Cruz just used a picture of Melania from a G.Q. shoot in his ad. Be careful, Lyin’ Ted, or I will spill the beans on your wife!” Not taking the threat lightly, Cruz fired back at Trump tweeting, “Pic of your wife not from us. Donald, if you try to attack Heidi, you’re more of a coward than I thought. #classless.”
Now, Heidi Cruz has responded to Trump’s threats to somehow expose her. According to the Washington Examiner, Heidi Cruz, while campaigning in Wisconsin for her husband made the following comment. “I have one job on this campaign, and that is to be helping Ted win this race and it is, I think the easiest job in the world because all I have to do is speak the truth …You probably know by now that most of the things Donald Trump says have no basis in reality. So we are not worried in the least. We’re focusing on our campaign, and we are going to continue to do that,” Heidi Cruz said.

The hosts of ABC’s The View discussed the exchange between Trump and Cruz on their show Wednesday. The hosts discussed whether wives should be off-limits to attacks during the campaign. The consensus between the hosts was the children were definitely off-limits but the wives are adults and are fair game.
It has yet to be seen if the heated exchange will be the last seemingly crude exchanges between the Republican front-runners, or if the two will continue to keep their wives in the middle of their public comments.
