It began with Megyn Kelly and Donald Trump mixing it up — the Fox News debate questioner and the GOP presidential contender engaging in a back-and-forth that some might describe as spirited or tense, others as testy bordering on nasty. Then, at the conclusion of the two-hour primetime debate, it appeared as though Trump rival Mike Huckabee might be the one to end the evening by launching a missile directly at “The Donald.”
In his closing statement, Huckabee teed it up like this: “It seems like this election has been a whole lot about a person who’s very high in the polls, but doesn’t have a clue about how to govern. A person who has been filled with scandals and who could not lead.”
You could almost hear the sucking sound in the auditorium as people drew in and held their breath, waiting for the former Arkansas governor to unload on the fiery Republican candidate far out in front in the polls despite not having any experience governing a city or a state, much less a country.
