Many Democratic candidates have been distancing themselves from President Obama and his failed policies during this mid-term election season. The top Democratic cheerleader, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, is the latest in a long line who has sought to shield herself and the Democratic National Committee from Obama’s low-approval ratings. She appeared on Wednesday’s MSNBC’s Morning Joe talk show where Joe Scarborough repeatedly pressed the chairwoman of the DNC as to whether voting for Democratic candidates is a continuation of the president’s policies. Wasserman Shultz answered with the usual scripted lines about the candidates having their back and focusing on the economy and job creation. After Scarborough dismissed her, he commented how suddenly Obama’s supporters cannot even say his name.
Scarborough: Should voters know that if they go out and vote for a Democratic candidate, they will be voting for a continuation of Barack Obama’s policies?
Wasserman Schultz: Voters should know that when they go out and vote for a Democratic candidate, that they are voting for someone who has their back, who’s going to focus on strengthening our economy, getting the economy to focus on job creation.
After some back and forth about Barack Obama not being on this year’s ballot, Scarborough asks her the question again.

Scarborough: And if the president has done a great job, he’s done a great job, Debbie. If you vote for Democrats, are you voting for a continuation of Barack Obama’s policies? He says, yes you are. Do you agree with the president?
Washerman Schultz: If you vote for Democrats, you are voting for candidates who are focused on creating jobs, getting the economy turned around, and continuing to move us forward, creating more opportunities for people to succeed. If you vote for a Republican, you are voting for someone who has embraced the Tea Party agenda, who would double down on obstruction, and who would stop us from moving forward.
Scarborough: It’s ridiculous. You have people that voted with the president 95, 96, 97, 98 percent of the time…
Brzezinski: Can’t say his name.
Scarborough: Who can’t say his name. They say, you send me up there, I’m going to be a pain in his backside. It’s a joke! It’s a clown show!
