Rep. Adam Smith (D-WA) is one of the Democrats on the special House committee investigating what happened before, during and after the deadly attack in Benghazi. Recently, Rep. Smith and another committee member, Adam Schiff (D-CA) were part of a press conference in which lawmakers disputed the annex security team’s version of events.
In a new book about Benghazi, members of that security team say they were given a “stand down” order from a CIA officer who told them not to respond to the nearby attack on the U.S. compound. In the press conference, designed to push back against the work of the select committee led by Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC), the security team’s claims were dismissed and said to be part of the “myth” of Benghazi…used to help sell books.
Two members of that team of military veterans appeared on Sean Hannity’s Fox News program to confront Congressman Smith and defend their honor and integrity. “Don’t call us liars,” Smith was told.
