Donald Trump was an outspoken supporter of Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi while the Marine was being held in Mexico for seven months. Now he’s putting his money where his mouth is, sending Tahmooressi a check for $25,000.
Tahmooressi depleted all of his savings trying to defend himself, so the money from Trump could be used to help defray the costs of treatment (Tahmooressi is suffering from PTSD after serving in Afghanistan) and legal fees going forward.

Trump told Greta Van Susteren during her Fox News Channel show, On the Record, Monday that he hopes all of the money goes straight to the recently returned Marine.
“I hope the lawyers don’t take it all… I really want this money to go to him, not to his lawyers. ‘Cause I don’t know what kind of a job the lawyers did. It took them a hell of a long time to get him out.”
Trump also told Van Susteren that he was inspired to send the money after watching the interview she did with Tahmooressi.
“I watched your interview… I felt very badly in watching him. He suffered greatly and I think that this $25,000 will be the beginning of getting somebody who’s a good person back with his life and onto a hopefully much better life than he’s had.”
Appropriately enough, the money was set to be sent to Tahmooressi today, on Veterans Day.
