“It’s worth it.”
That’s what Democratic candidate Charlie Crist said about the proposed wage hike to $10.10 an hour.
CNN’s Jake Tapper sited economists who said the minimum wage hike would cut 50,000 jobs in Florida alone, and 500,000 nationwide. Tapper asked Crist what he would say to Joanne Marsh, a Orlando small business owner who has done the math and would have to lay off one of her 17 employees.
“What is your message to that one employee who would be laid off?” Tapper asked.
“Well, the reason I think it’s worth it is because people deserve it,” Crist answered.
The former Republican turned Democrat thinks it’s worth it for thousands to lose their jobs so others can earn more.
