An off duty police officer killed a carjacking suspect Thursday night after ordering him to put down his handgun. The suspect pointed the gun directly at the officer after identifying himself as a member of law enforcement.
She fought back and signaled for help in the form of an off-duty police officer working security in the area. DeKalb Police Interim Chief James Conroy described what happened next:
“The officer approached the suspect who was inside the victim’s vehicle, identified himself as a police officer. The suspect pointed a handgun at the officer and the officer fired at him multiple times.”
The AJC noted the suspect died at the scene, and the investigation is still ongoing.
