An unmanned Antares rocket with the Cygnus spacecraft aboard exploded seconds after liftoff from NASA’s Wallops Island facility on the Eastern Shore of Virginia.
Details on the fiery disaster are still sketchy — it is not known if anyone was injured, but damage to the launch site is catastrophic.
The launch was live streaming on NASA’s website with many TV stations picking up the feed as well.

The Cygnus cargo ship was loaded with 5,000 pounds of gear for the six people living on the International Space Station. It was the fourth Cygnus bound for the orbiting lab; the first flew just over a year ago.
