Just a day after Western Journalism reported an NBC/WSJ poll showing Cruz leading Trump, a new Fox News poll has just been released. The Fox News poll of South Carolina Republican voters shows Donald Trump with a sizable lead over the field. Trump is leading with 32 percent, Cruz is 13 points behind with 19 percent, Rubio is at 15 percent, Carson and Bush both have 9 percent, and Kasich falls last with 6 percent.
These numbers could easily shift, as the poll also shows 25 percent of the over 1,400 Republican primary voters polled saying they could still change their minds before the S.C. primaries. The poll results were released Thursday after the telephone interviews were conducted from Monday to Wednesday.
According to Fox News, the indicators were that Trump may very well have lost support as a result of his controversial comments during the last Republican debate, saying former President Bush lied about WMD’s in Iraq and blaming him for 9/11. This new poll, however, indicates his comments may have little affect on his support.

The previous NBC/WSJ poll which indicated Trump was trailing Cruz for the first time in the campaign had a significantly smaller polling base. Only 400 voters were polled in the NBC/WSJ poll, and the poll was conducted by both Republican and Democratic pollsters, with the Democrat using his own research company to conduct the poll.
This latest Fox News poll may come as some comfort to the Trump campaign after what Trump described was an attack from all fronts during the S.C. Republican debates.
