If they apply their story-spinning skills, big-government liberals could use this freakish fire as a hot new argument in favor of Michelle Obama’s much-maligned school lunch program.
First Lady and Chief of the Federal Food Police, Ms. Obama, has come under near-constant criticism for her so-called healthy eating, anti-obesity initiatives.
A few weeks ago, Western Journalism posted a report noting that some $4 million in food is thrown away every day under Ms. Obama’s school lunch program. And just today, Daily Caller reported on the First Lady’s stringent calorie-intake guidelines that are limiting students to one small packet of ketchup per meal.
“Kids can’t take two ketchup packets [for burgers] because that would set them over on calories,” said a Burley, Idaho “district food-service secretary.”
So, the kids get one ketchup packet.
In Louisiana, unhappy students — leading to unhappy parents — were quoted in an article for a local news website that noted the persistent problems with school lunch choice after Michelle Obama got involved in the menu selections.
“And as the years progressed, I seemed to be sending lunch more often for both Daniela and Alex,” [Janina] Martinez says. “One time she came home and told me about the chicken jiggling like Jell-O.”
It was eye-opening for Martinez, but she says she really started to wonder about the food when Alex came home and exclaimed, “Mommy, they managed to mess up the pizza. The pizza!”
Now, about that freakish fire in Virginia…the one that progressives might point to as a reason to rally for the First Lady’s anti-obesity campaign, even if it is terribly unpopular.

Authorities in Henrico County, Virginia, have identified the likely cause of a fire at Southside Cremation Services. Can you guess what they determined, as reported on rt.com?
The cremation of a body weighing at least 500 pounds was the likely cause of a fire that broke out at a Virginia crematory on Wednesday. Authorities said the “rather large” cadaver caused excessive heat and oil during cremation.
The fire…was likely caused when the cremation furnace overheated, according to fire officials.
If only the First Lady had been able to control that poor person’s eating habits in grade school….
And in case you’re wondering, the folks at the crematory said the fire damage was minimal and the cremation would proceed.
