The Knoxville News Sentinel reported this week that local police are looking for a robbery suspect caught by a convenience store’s security camera earlier this month. As a police statement – and the surveillance footage – suggests, one telltale feature that might give the suspect away is at least one bullet wound.
Instead of receiving a quick payday when he brandished a gun and demanded money, the suspect left empty-handed amid a flurry of bullets from his victim’s gun.
“As the suspect appeared from behind the lottery machine,” Knoxville police confirmed, “the owner of the business shot at the suspect with his personal handgun. The suspect and the business owner fired multiple times at each other as the suspect ran from the store. The suspect was hit at least one time.”

Authorities found a trail of blood at the scene leading from inside the store to the spot where the suspect’s getaway car had been parked. Police have a description of the vehicle – a silver Dodge Caravan with black rims and a piece of black plastic taped over the rear window – as well as the suspect.
Investigators say they are looking for a thin black man standing about 5 feet 10 inches tall. During the attempted robbery, he was wearing a dark blue hoodie, a ski mask, blue jeans, and white athletic shoes.
