They’re a major, malignant presence in Syria and Iraq. They have declared designs on a host of other nations, “from Morocco and Spain out to Sri Lanka and the border of China.” News reports in Israel now claim that the Islamic State, ISIS, plans to create a massive Muslim caliphate that includes the Jewish state…that the ruthless terror organization is “now knocking on Jordan’s door, has marked ‘Palestine’ as the next target on its list.”
Israeli media have revealed startling events and images that suggest the forces of ISIS may be closer than many may have suspected to the heart of the Holy Land. The Times of Israel reports that an Israeli TV station has footage of a recent Islamic State gathering on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem.
Formally, the gathering, attended by thousands, was organized by the Tahrir party, which the report described as being the “Palestine branch” of Islamic State.
Speakers were filmed anticipating the liberation of Jerusalem and decrying Jewish pollution of the city. Several black IS flags were seen in the footage.
You may remember that, not so long ago, a jihadi group, “Islamic State in Jerusalem,” claimed it was behind the abduction and killing of three Israeli teens. From the International Business Times:
A Palestinian jihadi group calling itself “Supporters of the Islamic State in Jerusalem” claimed responsibility for the abduction and killing of three Israeli students in Hebron, whose bodies were found on Monday evening in a shallow grave.
The statement was posted on an open access jihadist website supportive of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (Isis), the Sunni militant group which is waging war in Iraq and has declared a caliphate straddling Iraq and Syria.
The reported presence of ISIS in Israel has now prompted the Israeli government to take formal action against the organization. Jerusalemonline.com reports:
Defense Minister Ya’alon signed an announcement defining the radical terror organization as an unknown association. The meaning of this is that legal and other measures will be taken against assemblies, resource fund-raising and other activities of the organization.
