With Friends Like Fox, Who Needs Liberal Media?

Fox News channel SC With friends like Fox, who needs liberal media?

Since its debut in 1996, we conservatives have seen Fox News as our sanctuary from the hostility and bias prevalent for decades in the liberal media.

Why wouldn’t we? The brainchild of longtime Republican media consultant Roger Ailes, Fox was willing to air content often ignored by the rest of the news media, and give a voice to conservative punditry other networks didn’t want to admit existed. Fox seemed to treat institutions and ideals we conservatives hold dear with a respect and benefit of the doubt we rarely received elsewhere.

That is starting to change.

It first became noticeable during the past two presidential campaign cycles, when I was inundated with e-mails and social media messages from conservatives (especially social conservatives) telling me they had to watch CNN and MSNBC to get unbiased coverage of the Republican primary, because Fox was perceived by these people as being in the tank for Mitt Romney.

Remember when Rick Santorum accused Fox News of “shilling for (Romney) every day?” Newt Gingrich also said, “I think Fox has been for Romney all the way through…We are more likely to get neutral coverage on CNN than we are Fox.”

  1. Is Fox News in the tank for Romney? Better than the alternative. We Conservatives are in the battle of our lives. If Obama wins, America and the World will be thrown into another Dark Ages. The only light in the tunnel is Fox News, and unbiased Radio Stations. I myself do not listen t the radio. I watch the news and on email. I have watched Fox News ever since 9-11. Why? Because all the other stations were blaming us. I have never looked back. Are they perfect? Certainly not but, sure beats the alternative. I have tried to watch MSNBC and CNN since 9-11, and after a few minutes want to hurl. Can’t imagine watching CNN for years like I did. My eyes are open, you must take a little darkness to get to the light. Fox News is far from perfect but given the alternatives I will take them.

  2. FOX IS THE ONLY STATION I TRUST. FOR MANY YEARS I WORKED AT THE AIRPORT AND ALL THEY HAD ON WAS CNN THAT IS WHAT OPEN MY EYES. ALL YOU GOT WAS ONE A ONE SIDED VIEW. IN THE LAST 4 YRS, IT GOT WORST. I’M JUST SAYING I AM GLAD SOME ONE IN THE MEDIA IS GIVING HIM A FAIR SHAKE. I’M GLAD THAT FOX SEES A GOOD MAN, HE’S NOT PERFECT… BUT UNLIKE OBAMA, MITT LOVES AMERICA.

  3. I believe only a small portion of what I see because the news media is not honest, and that includes FOX. FOX started out as an honest media outlet, but as they hired more and more liberals in order to be perceived as ‘balanced’, they became more and more liberal in their news to the point that they are little different than shows like MSNBC. Even shows like O’Reilly Factor have taken on a left-wing slant IMHO.

    • A lot of what you say is true but, they are so outnumbered, smeared by Media Matters, and the New York Times insistently. They are just a few, another is the Justice Department under Eric Holder. Fox is the only Television Station that has to argue there existence surrounded by all the Liberal smear and garbage. It ain’t pretty but, it’s better than nothing!

  4. Well Gee! I rather FOX was in the tank for Romney rather than OBummer!!!! OBummer has all the other BS station”s working behind the scene’s for him! Seems all Romney has is FOX so I say GOOD. Why is this news??? Go check out all the other ones who are OBummer Minions. They aren’t Media they are Fake in the tank hard core OBummer Evildoers
