In coming days, the Boy Scouts of America will decide whether to violate – eliminate, really – its own mission statement, oath, and law by changing its policy to allow, within its ranks, Scouts and Scoutmasters who are open practitioners of the homosexual lifestyle. Sadly, to do so would destroy BSA’s credibility as a “morally straight” organization. Such foolhardy capitulation to extremist pressure groups would spell the demise of Scouting as we’ve known it.
The Prince of the Earth seeks to corrupt and ultimately destroy all that is righteous, honorable, and good. It’s little wonder, then, that for years, the Boy Scouts have faced a malicious and unrelenting assault at the hands of those “who call evil good and good evil.”
These attacks have played out in both the federal courts and in the court of public opinion. Still, notwithstanding multiple decisive victories at the U.S. Supreme Court, left-wing bullies appear to have worn the BSA leadership down to such point that this hitherto honorable organization is seriously deliberating a move most dishonorable.
If the BSA, with its proud tradition of teaching millions of young boys how to become honorable young men, gives in on this, the organization is toast. Oh, it might limp along as something else – something entirely different, worldly, and weak – but its long history as an upright, ethical, and God-honoring safe-haven for boys will come to a disgraceful close.
With her characteristically thoughtful analysis, Laurie Higgins of the Illinois Family Institute lays out the Boy Scout mission statement and oath in a column headlined, “Save the Boy Scouts of America.” She then demonstrates how the BSA’s proposed policy change does violence to both:

The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.
The Boy Scout Oath:
On my honor I will do my best
To do my duty to God and my country
and to obey the Scout Law;
To help other people at all times;
To keep myself physically strong,
mentally awake, and morally straight. [emphases added]
“How does the BSA promote fidelity to God,” asks Higgins, “if it permits men or women who affirm that which God views as detestable (i.e. homosexual acts) to serve as role models and leaders?”
“There exist objective truths regarding sexual morality,” she continues, “truths which if violated mar the image of God imprinted on men and women. When men have sex with men or women have sex with women, they demonstrate a profound disrespect for God and for themselves, which, although less important, violates the Boy Scout Law, which asserts that ‘a Scout is … reverent.’”
Indeed, like Higgins, millions of parents with young Scouts prefer to bask in the white glow of objective truth, rather than drown beneath the dark mire of political correctness. The homosexual lifestyle and sexual morality are unambiguously incompatible, notwithstanding a morally relative, postmodern zeitgeist that proclaims otherwise. Such morally minded values amount to “hate” or “homophobia” to the same degree that acknowledging earth’s roundness amounts to superstition.
“No one is arguing that homosexual men and women are devoid of admirable values and traits that boys would be well-served to emulate,” concludes Higgins. “What many are arguing is that the affirmation of a homosexual identity is not one of them.”
In the past, the BSA has recognized this simple reality – a fundamental truth observed by every major world religion, thousands of years of history, and uncompromising third-grade biology: Homosexual behavior is always wrong in every way.
Still, under immense socio-political – indeed, spiritual pressure, the Boy Scouts appear poised to play a very dangerous, self-deluded game of “the Scoutmaster wears no clothes.” They’re flirting with the queer idea of an about turn – of betraying both absolute truth and the very boys they serve.
Instead of teaching young men to stand up to the bully, they would model surrender – teach them that, when you reach an adversarial fork in the road, take the primrose path of least resistance.
But it’s much worse than all that. We mustn’t ignore the pink elephant in the room: the Penn State factor. Should the BSA cave beneath the weight of sexual anarchist intimidation, Scoutmaster Sandusky joins the jamboree.
Of course, not every “gay” man – self-identified or otherwise – is a pedophile, but studies indicate that homosexual assaults against boys occur at an alarmingly disproportionate rate when compared to heterosexual assaults. The very act of a man molesting a boy unquestionably involves both same-sex attraction and homosexual behavior (a “gay” by any other name…).
Consider, for instance, a study published in the Archives of Sexual Behavior, of over 200 convicted pedophiles. It found that “86 percent of offenders against males described themselves as homosexual or bisexual.” This demonstrates, as noted by Peter Sprigg of the Family Research Council, that “homosexual or bisexual men are approximately 10 times more likely to molest children than heterosexual men.”
No loving, self-respecting father in his right mind would leave his son in the care of – allow him to go camping with – an “out and proud” man whose very identity is somehow defined by the fact that he craves sex with other males.
I pray the Boy Scouts will remain faithful to their cause. I pray they will stay “morally straight” and not allow themselves to be bullied – “immorally bent” – by child-corrupting “gay” extremists.
To be sure, the biblical model instructs that we both love and pray for those caught-up in homosexual sin, as with any form of sexual immorality. But to openly affirm such medically, emotionally, and spiritually self-destructive behavior runs counter to all for which the BSA stands.
Don’t give in to the bullies, Boy Scouts of America. Honor your oath. Do your duty to God and country. Stay physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight.
Don’t give up on our boys.
Otherwise, we’re giving up on you.

If you have a son who is homosexual why would he want to join the BSA????
To corrupt other young boys. Fox in the hen house is what the homosexuals want plain and simple. Stand your ground BSA. I no longer use UPS because of their withdrawal of support of the BSA. There is nothing wrong with boys being boys, especially little boys. It is how they become men not perverts.
That has been my question. I thought gay boys wanted to join the Girl Scouts.
I knew this was coming because we as Christian Americans greatly underestimate the consequences of giving sin (any sin) LEGAL affirmation. We should have cried out in protest the second our government recognized Civil Unions. We should have done the same thing with no fault devoice and out of wedlock births. The only man that a women should be allowed to drag into court for child support is her HUSBAND! If our government had not made sodomy, and thereby civil unions legal, we would not have this problem with the BSA. We need ministers who will preach against sin without compromising. I guess the Boy Scouts will be turning into the Gay Scouts because every God fearing, red blooded American with a son in Boy Scouts is going to remove their child. We should not be encouraging the gay lifestyle in any shape or form. As for gay leaders, this is the not kind of mentoring that God intended for young boys to have. If the Boy Scouts decide to allow gays to join and be open about their sexuality, then it is finished. I don’t understand why gays think that people want to know if they are gay. Keep it to yourself if you want to honestly help out in the Boy Scouts or join it. Come out of the closet around your friends and family. Others will guess but ignore it. There is no need to have to announce being gay everywhere they go. I am sick of hearing about it.
The reality is that the major Corporations in America forced the BoyScouts into a corner by both threatening and eliminating their future donations. The Chicago Style of intimidation will I believe work, and the BoyScouts will change their motto to accommodate both homosexual boy scouts, and homosexual leaders.
The organization will leave it up to individual troops, to allow them into their troops or not, I can’t imagine a troop that is sponsored by a church or by a synagogue will comply with the National new directive. The sad part is that similar to Congress shat allowed Obama to destroy America, the leaders of the BoyScouts of America might end up getting there contributions, but it will not take long before they will go the same way as the Edsel, into extension.
We have according to information received a president who at best is bi-sexual, so what else would anyone expect, other than to have him support homosexual integration anywhere and everywhere. I am certain that no one other than Obama, and Rahm Emanuel could be any happier, about what I believe will soon be adopted by the BSA.
I find it amazing that Michelle Obama seems not be be affected by the world knowing that her husband is bi-sexual, I guess she could care less, just as long as she can continue to live the lifestyle of royalty.
They just need to shut it down. It is over.
Okay if I said I didn’t want gay people in with the boy scouts, I would think that you need a good excuse for this. Personally, no, I don’t think they should be in there. So putting it like this, Boy Scouts have a reputation to uphold. For one they have to be boys to be a Boy Scout. Also I think if I were a boy and I had a drinking problem they wouldn’t let me in the Boy Scouts, so if something dishonors you as being a boy or a young man, you don’t have a right to join. My son had to abide by these rights. It is not right to change the rules in the middle of the game and say we can bend the rules. If they put gays in the scouts, I hope they just do away with it. It was not intended for this. It was intended to teach the right respectful young men to be an elite few just like the seals. We need those men to rely on. If you can start at a young age going through life to be a respectful citizen, that is what it is about. If you want to be in the scouts and they only have one for boys and one for girls, make a scout company just for gays, and all your other sexual parts to be in. Then don;t let just boys or just girls in it. It isn’t that hard to figure out.
Why dont they make it a PRIVATE club… and be done with it… then they can only allow members in..

As an eagle scout, i will honestly say that this kind of behaviour is both appalling and just plain disgusting, for over a century the BSA has held its ground and been a place that is a safe haven for boys who grow up to become model men, to the Executive board if you allow the peer pressure to overwhelm you you might as well pack it in and go home, places like jamborees, (both national and world) philmont scout ranch and other places will become havens for the perverted and truly twisted and sick, i as one of the many eagles who have won this coveted award implore you not to give in to the pressure, there are other ways to raise the need funds to keep the BSA as it should be and has been a safe haven for those who want to learn about the out of doors etc, not the perversions that would stem from this mindset of pure evil. to do any less would be to remove the aspects of being physically strong, mentally awake and morally straight, further more if you choose to go this route you should remove 3 of the laws namely obdient,clean and the last one which would no longer apply reverent

Just wanted to let you know if you allow gays to join you will be demeaning all of what the BSA stand for. I am also sure once they are in gays will be making more and more demands.
I can understand why a gay man would want to be a BSA scoutmaster. I do not see why a gay boy would want to join the BSA.
I realize there are businesses who say they will cancel their contributions, but I am sure if you stand your ground and your uphold your tradition and your pride things will work out for you in the long run. Why would a business fund the BSA if you have no members?
I do not know why a gay boy would want to join the BSA or heterosexual would want to join and be subjected a divided camp and divided thinking.
I and friends of mine will be boycotting the businesses who say they will withdraw their contributions from the BSA. I have a list of the ones who said they will cancel their support. I will start emailing, faxing and calling them. I will try to get as many people to join me as I can.
I will call AT&T and let them know I will cancel their service if they go against the BSA
Maybe you could start a branch for gay boys. They could earn merit badges in sewing, knitting, laundry etc.

And at this very moment i must apologize to the Boy Scouts for the insult that they are belittled by a homosexual president, who has no problems with people and their immoral behavior who go. t the opportunity to present their immoral acts and agendas to un-suspecting innocent young men who will probably become the real future leaders of this great country once we rid ourselfs of the rift raft who deserves nothing but a third class ticket to his country of birth, barry sotoroe or as G.
