With dark shadows of uncertainty descending upon the hearts of so many at the conclusion of 2012, one can only hope 2013 will be a year of promise. But even in these dark days, miracles do still happen, especially when people are willing to roll up their sleeves for the cause of freedom.
This present darkness has its roots in our nation’s moral decline; and the further we get from our moral center, the worse off we are as a people — and a nation. It has taken some time to get where we are today. Over the years, Conservatives have allowed Progressives to hijack the conversation about our founding principles. Liberals have replaced morality with moral relativism in an attempt to justify their own moral ineptitude. For example, a group recently sanitized the King James Bible from any reference to homosexuality, replacing it with their own politically correct version they titled the “New Queen James Bible.”
Moreover, we’ve allowed liberals to distort our founders’ intentions concerning the separation of church and state. Consequently, prayer and most other references to God have been banned from the public square; yet they see no plausible correlation to those actions and recent mass shootings.
Mum’s the word when it comes to God, but the roof is raised by right to choose discussions — just as long as the conversation stays within the confines of the human life women should be allowed to extract from their bodies. But choice flies out the window when the discussion changes to things the rest of us put in our bodies — like soda, fats, salt, and caffeine. They’re all about women’s rights — until you mention Islamic extremism or third-world barbarism in places like Darfur. And to them, capitalism is reprehensible; but taking hard-earned money from a capitalist is okay.
Progressives’ ideological inconsistencies will be their downfall, and their ideology will most certainly crumble beneath the weight of truth, just as the Iron Curtain did in 1989.
What is wrong in America today is what went terribly wrong in Russia many years ago when the Soviet Union tried the Marxist way to go it on its own without God. While many cast the blame for their problems on poor economic and political choices, Russian writer and Nobel Prize recipient Alex Solzhenitsyn blamed it on the fact “men had forgotten God.” He was right, and the world discovered how wrong Marx was when men (and women) who refused to forget God played a monumental role in crushing Communism in Eastern European countries.
The story is told in Philip Yancey’s book, “Finding God in Unexpected Places”; in East Germany, every demonstration began with worship. (I’m not getting all spiritual on you here; I’m simply restating history.) Small groups would throw prayer meetings filled with political dissidents, concerned citizens, and some of those reprehensible Christians. After a period of prayer, pastors spoke while holding newspapers in one hand and Bibles in the other. Afterward, participants went outside to walk peacefully through dark streets holding banners and candles.
In October 1989, as East Berlin was celebrating the 44th year of its communist regime, police were instructed to shoot demonstrators in Leipzig, where crowds had grown to nearly 500,000, but thankfully never did. On November 9, the crowd had doubled to one million when the unimaginable happened; a gap in the Berlin Wall opened. Without incident, candle-carrying East Germans peacefully filed through and over the wall, effectively bringing down the East German government in the process.
By years’ end, multiple Eastern Bloc countries joined East Germany’s fate; and by the end of 1991, the Soviet Union dissolved. Hope sprung eternal, and the world experienced a long-anticipated fresh breath of freedom because people put their faith and longing for freedom into action, thus allowing the world to witness a miracle.

America has fallen from the Grace of God. God will not bless a country with a good economy that turns it’s back on Him and kills His creation in the womb. He has sent many, many warnings to America which have fallen on deaf ears. It’s been 40 years since we as a nation have been slaughtering His creation in the womb by millions upon millions every year. As contained in Catholic Prophecy in the Devotion to the Most Precious Blook of Our Lord Jesus Christ on 29 July 1998 Jesus spoke to an uneducated Nigerian Cathlic youth telling him, “Today the blood of innocent children has filled Heaven. Their number is too great, too great; the wrath of the Eternal Father is about to fall on mankind. . . Their blood disturbs My Agonizing Heart and increases My agony . . .” And as it shows in the Bible God does work like in every 40 years — the Hebrews spent 40 years in the desert after they were released from Pharoah’s slavery, Jesus fasted for 40 years in the desert while on earth,etc. So, I think it’s up to us to influence God through prayer and reparation to hold back His wrath. Remember, God controls the world, but PRAYER controls God.
You have written words of profound truth. Sadly, our country has fallen from traditional values into a moral abyss. People who deny Christ should have no voice in their efforts to change what “We The People” believe……..as did our founding fathers.
We have turned to an entertainment society and watched corruption grow. Traditional values must return. God is watching and, without a renewed focus on the great truths of His Word, we will suffer. Wake up, people!

Uh, No. If he had fasted for 40 years that would have resulted in his earthly death as a man and preempted his later death on the Cross. It was in fact 40 days!
The numbers 40 and 7 are the most commonly and frequently used numbers in the Bible.
America has been the location of the deadliest holocaust in the history of the world, in terms of numbers of lives destroyed over the past 40 years. Considering what God has done to other societies throughou8t history who have engaged in similar sacrifices of children but never approaching the number that have been killed in America, I’d say we can expect that or worse sooner rather than later, if it is not stopped. To expect God to bless America when it engages in such abominable activity to the extent it has and continues to do is to expect the impossible. Add to that the perverted and immoral sexual activity, same sex marriage, widespread pornography and it’s a fait accompli that America will suffer under God’s wrath if this activity continues unabated. He keeps sending us clear warnings which have been wantonly ignored.
I’m afraid it will only get worse.The communist are working too hard to let up. They have completed most of the agenda they have been working on for many.many decades now and they will not give up until they have accomplished their goal!
With the scumbags in the white house they will only strive harder to dumb the country down even more! Too many people have been brainwashed to follow evil and think it is good!

Now, I feel we have conservatives in Congress who are allowing Obama to intimidate and alienate anything/everything they stand for. This is disgusting and unacceptable. I have called my senator; live voice answered at “THE CAPITOL”; then, had
to leave a message………likely, deleted. Once elected, they are not available. I do commend Michelle Bachmann and Marco Rubio…….and the other few who demonstrate morality and dignity.

So 2013 heralded in the fact that we went over the fiscal cliff. we have been going over the immorality cliff for many years – I would like to know this: Once the ayatollah barack hussein obama and his thugs and czars have destroyed America and turned us into one of the poorest third world country in the world – who then are they going to tackle and what is next on their agenda??
There are so many entitlement recipients who show no appreciation, take no responsibility and, definitely,
have figured out exactly how to “manipulate the system” to “get” all they want….FREE. Local governments and agencies must focus on this. Teen pregnancy is one area to target. Sadly, this happens because it has become “popular” to have a baby….knowing you will get help from the “government”. I have been told of girls selling “free” strollers, etc, to get money for drugs. Medicaid, often, caters to the undeserving. Babies must have responsible parents…….Period!
Entitlement programs need careful scrutiny. Many people truly need these programs and deserve the help.
The scrutiny is needed to prevent greed, dependency, and irresponsibility.
Churches can help, and many do. Celibacy centers could be put next to pregnancy centers.
