The election of New York’s Cardinal Timothy Dolan, the bishop of the Archdiocese of New York, to lead the United State Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) was seen as a very hopeful sign by many who are concerned with the state the Catholic Church in America. I was one of those hopeful Catholics, but alas I have had my nose rubbed in reality: Cardinal Dolan has proved to be little more than an affable dupe at best and a dangerously misguided classic liberal at worst.
During the lead-up to the presidential election, Cardinal Dolan essentially abandoned the effort to bring the truth to the 30 million adherent Catholics who regularly hear Mass.
While one post- election survey found that adherent Catholics had voted for Mitt Romney by a wide margin, Romney’s total did not break 60%; and that shortfall can be directly placed at the feet of Cardinal Dolan for his failure to stand up for Catholic teachings. In his home diocese of New York City, we heard NOT A WORD about the election. Our parish of nearly 1000 people was supplied with a convoluted, poorly-written, unreadable, and barely more-than-apologetic pamphlet on why Catholics cannot vote for “those who support abortion.” No names were mentioned – of course.
Since the election, we have been asked to donate to the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD), which has a long and strong history of connections to ACORN as well as abortion- and gay “marriage”-supporting organizations. Cardinal Dolan did not have the sense of awareness to at least cancel this collection in Staten Island, which was devastated by super-storm Sandy. More than this, there was no clear explanation of what CCHD is really about – which provides grounds for cynicism and emotional disengagement from the Church.
The latest insult to the Catholic faithful is the appointment of Alexia K. Kelley (a longtime adviser to putative Catholic abortion supporters John Kerry, Kathleen Sebelius, and Barack Obama) as the new head of Foundations and Donors Interested in Catholic Activities (FADICA). Kelley worked hard behind the scenes for the confirmation of the ridiculously pro-abortion fake Catholic Sebelius as Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services. The USCCB, headed by Cardinal Dolan, lists the FADICA on its website as a “resource.” Is there anything else left to say?

Seems that you are so libbery that you don’t address the issues just rant about their English, you sold your own soul to the admitted muslim leader and want what you want and use some one else as a sell out. First: How can one address the issues of a post, when one can not make sense of the post? In order to agree or disagree, one would have to know the meaning contained therein. Second: What is “libbery”, I can’t seem to find it in Webster’s dictionary? Third: What “wants” did myself or Republicanone mention or imply that we are being selfish about? Just so you know, I’m very, very conservative and merely asked AdVader to explain what he was getting at. Heck I might just agree with him, if I could only understand him.
“Why Did Romney Lose The Catholic Vote?”
Well, I can think of two reasons. Although the Roman Catholic Church itself – the celibate Pope, the celibate Cardinals, the celibate bishops and archbishops, the celibate priesthood and lay orders – are all ex officio anti-abortion and determined to preserve the institution of matrimony as an exclusively heterosexual institution, the average Roman Catholic American citizen:
(a) Doesn’t care whether gay men and lesbians want to have their perverted “relationships” certified as marital contracts (or even get their vows to each other sanctified in some heretical Protestant religious ceremony or other), and:
(b) Wants abortion on demand to be available as a safe option for a woman to terminate a pregnancy she doesn’t want to carry.
It’s not simply that the majority of American Catholics are “Liberals” in the sense that they worship that Metrosexual Mulatto Mamzer-in-Chief who criminally usurps the presidency of these United States, but that they’re far more willing to keep their freaking hands off other people’s lives, liberties, and property than are the rabid “social” pseudoconservatives of the religious whackjob right.
Besides that, of course, they also recognized that the Etch-A-Sketch was and is just another “Rockefeller Republican,” one of the guys responsible for turning the Red Faction into Socialist Party “B” in our great allegedly bipartisan illusion of political choice.
Wanna explain again just how Dr. Ron Paul was supposed to be “unelectable”?
I know from letter exchanges between Paul Ryan and Cardinal Dolan that they both understand well the basis for what makes a successful society work… the combined application of the principles of subsidiarity and solidarity – personal responsibility and e pluribus unum.
Both Dolan and Romney went silent on key issues in the weeks approaching the election. The social justice purveyors have long taken over the Catholic health and welfare structures to the point its hard to find a solid manager who believes in these ancient Catholic and Founders’ principles.
I met a Dad at Vons the other day whose daughter is on the Catholic HS water polo team with my granddaughter. He gives instruction in finance to the doctoral students in Education at the local state university. I was excited that they might be learning about free enterprise, entrepreneurship, etc. He said, “No, my job is to teach them how to get state and federal funds. ” Aaaarghh!
Why did he lose the Catholic vote? Several reasons. Mainly that many pseudo-Christians put politics before God. Secondly arrogance thinking that one Religion worshipping God (not fake “gods” like Allah) is better than another. So instead of supporting the man who had some religious differences from them, they supported the man who supports murdering babies and other acts that go against God and His teachings to all who believe in Him. Anyone who calls themself a Christian needs to do some soul searching as to why they didn’t vote for the person who most closely follows God’s teachings. Do you honestly think God cares if you worship Him as a Baptist, Catholic, Mormon, or Methodist?
Yes, God has to care what people who worship Him believe. God either considers abortion as murder, or as a routine surgery like a tonsillectomy (although your tonsils will never be born as another human being if not removed). Now, anyone can argue this either way, but one thing is 100% certain, and that is that it cannot be both. No one who believes that truth and lies are the same thing, or that good and evil are interchangeable, believes in any God worth worshipping. The Asian ‘religions’ are not actually religions in any meaningful sense, but rather philosophical systems without any god and a cyclical view of history that leads literally nowhere, as opposed to Western religions’ linear historical view, which has led to modern science and modern civilization. Leftism has led to Lysenkoism, Global Warming/Cooling/Climate-Change, and obscurantism in human evolutionary/genetic research.
Cardinal Dolan sent mixed messages. He regularly yuks it up with Zero at public events as do most of the Church hierarchy. Don’t think that this type of behavior was lost on your average voter who probably saw the friendly exchanges. Dolan is not alone either. The church leaders have been dancing with the devil for years.

It’s no small wonder why attendance at mass is shrinking. I weep for my church when we have gutless leaders like this. One day, just like all men, they will stand in judgement before God. They might not like the verdict.
Being born in 1947, I grew up in a Catholic Church where eating fish on Friday was a badge of tribal unity, and where my family had to wait outside at family weddings held in non-Catholic churches because entering one was a mortal sin. My mother’s sister died during a difficult pregnancy because she would not have an abortion (and her father was a doctor). Catholics believed in things then and their beliefs were reinforced by constant actions in support of them. Other people sometimes found this admirable and some even converted. Nowadays, it’s all mush. The American branch of the Catholic Church has long been a malignant tumor on the Church, generating heresies at a Lutherian pace, but providing massive amounts of money in donations. The takeover in the 50s of some seminaries by ‘The Pink Mafia” led to the pedophile scandals of the 80s and 90s and probably cost the Church nearly as much $$$ as all those massive donations ever amounted to. Evil never ends well — you’d think a religious organization with a 2,000-year history would’ve noticed this by now. America, far from being a paradigm of goodness and greatness, is exporting a social model to the world that makes Sodom anbd Gomorrah look like monasteries (no society in recorded history has ever recognized same-sex ‘marriage’), and a culture of Biblical-level evil and unsurpassed crassness and vulgarity.
Sell outs even the latino preacher on Christian Broadcast news, he said that they didn’t do what they wanted and that they need to sell out or they will lose and that is supporting your own agenda and this is lower than any thing do as I want or we will vote for the other guy even if he doesn’t have any morals and we break the law. Sell your souls to the admitted lying muslim and his pretend morals and values, he has none and the Catholics condemn the Romney because they support some one that kills babies and steals our money and jobs and our homes. And they think they can make this muslim a person to do what they want like the latino transformation and they are the losers they are losing their own morals and values. We have all lost for their selfish wants and not thinking of any one but themselves, sad but the sermons show they are self serving and they listen to nothing of the sermons they listen to and the latinon talks about he is a loser himself and to have some one threaten not to vote for them until they lower themselves to their level and give me give me give me attitude breaking the law and this is sad..
