On February 7th, Coach is Right posted a story reporting that House Speaker John Boehner was involved in an under-the-table negotiation with Attorney General Eric Holder to arrange a “mutually acceptable conclusion” to the Congressional investigation of Operation Fast and Furious.
Originally broken by Mike Vanderboegh on his Sipsey Street Irregulars website, it was reported that the Department of Justice would provide Boehner and Republicans the heads of DOJ higher-ups Lanny Breuer and Jason Weinstein along with assorted minor players. In return, the GOP would drop House and Senate committee investigations, giving Eric Holder and Barack Obama a pass on their involvement in the gunwalking scheme.
Since this story first broke on February 3rd, dozens, perhaps hundreds of sites across the internet, have picked up the articles originally published on Sipsey Street, Coach is Right, and Western Journalism. CiR and WJ have been inundated with comments, many taking offense at the accusations of imminent betrayal lodged against Speaker Boehner. The Congressman’s office phone has apparently rung off the hook with questions about the veracity of the report. Naturally, the allegations were denied.
Today, David Workman and David Codrea of the Gun Rights Examiner weighed in. Workman claims that the story presented by Coach is Right is pure fiction. Codrea, both a friend and associate of Mike Vanderboegh, is taking more a wait and see approach, knowing that Vanderboegh’s sources are both well informed and eminently trustworthy in their ability to appraise conditions and goings-on in the Capital.
In September, Congressman Darrell Issa, Chairman of the House Oversight Committee currently investigating Operation Fast and Furious and the Holder/Department of Justice connection, held a telephone conference with bloggers—members of the “new media.” Issa congratulated them for covering the story of Fast and Furious, promising to keep them informed as he knew they would report stories the legacy media would not.
And the blogosphere has indeed been reporting stories the MSM will not, even to the extent of discomforting Republicans.
Far more than the potential betrayal by John Boehner, this has been a story of the “new media” and the power it can and MUST exercise over our elected officials.
Last week, Darrell Issa meekly took back his threat to hold Eric Holder in contempt of Congress for the AG’s continued refusal to turn over some 80,000 pages of Fast and Furious documents subpoenaed by Congressional committees. Instead, Issa “granted” Holder an apparently indefinite extension of time! (Update: Issa has taken a small step, days late, to hold Holder in contempt. Perhaps his late move is resulting from the increased pressure generated by our stories. EDITOR)
It is worth wondering if Issa would have been so quick to accommodate the Department of Justice gangster if, like that of Speaker Boehner, thousands of calls had been directed to Congressman Issa’s office asking if a story of his pending decision to “wimp-out” was true!
Of course, it’s a distinct possibility that Issa did not have the votes necessary to force Holder to choose between obeying the demands of a House subpoena and going to jail. Would a hundred or more Republican members prefer the relative security of doing nothing to forcing the Attorney General’s hand if their own phones had rung off their hook demanding that they take a stand?
The point is simple: a couple of bloggers reported a story we believe to be true. Hundreds of others carried it on their websites and many thousands of readers made its content known in Washington, DC. And it might have made a difference. For we know that the offer of any Fast and Furious deal letting Eric Holder off the hook now would be political poison for the Speaker.
I believe that the story of John Boehner’s unscrupulous deal-making was accurate. And I KNOW that the majority of our elected officials prefer the path of least resistance to one of courage and resolve. That’s why the “new media” must make a difference. And, over the last 10 days, it’s just possible that we did.

We need to keep the pressure on B’s ofc. as well as on Issa. Going thru Reps Gosar(AZ) and Chaffitz(UT) should help, as they are on the investigative committee and seem to be scrupulous members of Congress. As pres. of the Arizonans For Border Control and an active member of the Az. Border Defenders, I can assure you that all of our members will be carefully monitoring this issue.
Rocquedog: Please review my posting of 2-14-2012 which indicated that the President of the Retired Border Patrol Officers stated unequivocally on the Glen Beck Program last week, while articulating facts concerning other Mexican Drug Cartel atrocities, that after Agent Terry was severely shot that Border Patrol Choppers which had been summoned for his Medical Evacuation COULD NOT LAND due to the Federal Environmental Regulations that had previously applied to this and other key areas by our illustrious EPA and/or the State Department, The retired agent went on to further state that the aforementioned circumstances resulted in Agent Terry’s removal taking some four and a half hours and there was some mention of horseback involvement. Let me be clear. After I heard that I could care less about Holder, Issa, Boehner, Obama and the whole slew of insignificant, insidious, stooges who are dragging this country down to depths, heretofore, unimagined. What I do care about is Agent Terry and his family and the ultimate contribution of his precious life ,honoring his oath to his country, which means absolutely zero, zip, nada to the sniveling Progressives and their ilk. Based on your stated position and the monitoring capabilities of your dedicated personnel, I and I am sure other concerned Patriots and Citizens of this country, would certainly like to know that if any part of the aforementioned accusation is true, why in God’s name has it not been divulged. It was bad enough that this Warrior had to defend his life with BeanBag ammunition, however, if a fraction of the alleged evacuation story rings true, this country has fallen so far from the Founding Fathers intent, that it is utterly despicable and any and all Administration officials,Politicians, Republican and/or Democrat complicit in the cover up of this information should be summarily dismissed. Period! Would seek any help, assistance, and/or information you can provided in this effort. Thks>
McG, do you mean the BP agt./hero that was sacrificed to the Mex. Cartel because Holder couldn’t keep track of the assault weapons that he was giving to them all in an effort to undermine the 2nd. amendment? The same agt. that because of policy set by Nappy Incompetano to have the Bortac teams carry atleast 2 non-lethal weapons on Cartel Interdiction Squads?
We do know that the first chopper to land and leave was the one carrying the Mex. Criminal Cartelista. Agt. Terry had to wait for the 2nd. chopper which may have cost him his life. I wonder whose orders those were, Napolitano??
Something else to take into consideration is that Congressman Raul Grijalva, an avowed La Raza supporter, has been trying to get thousands of acres along the border, classified as a Border Patrol Free Zone, which basically allows millions of illegals/cartel mules use the desert and keeping law enf. out.. Fortunately, he was defeated on his last attempt a few mos. ago. Be advised that there is substantial evidence/belief that he is also on the Cartel payroll.
This POS traitor will be up for election in Nov. (assuming that there is an election)and Arizonans will remove this scum, but know that this is more than just a local state election, as it affects our entire country by having traitors control our borders and working with the enemy. Patriots are lining up behind Gabriela Saucedo-Mercer, a LEGAL U.S. Citizen and an avowed patriot/conservative. Anyone wanting to help out can look her up on the internet.
Thks Rocquedog.: Thats what I need to know! Holder, Hillary, Big Sis and her DOHS crew are co-conspirators in this massive example of intimidation and deceit. Boehner and Issa will insure that they don’t pay the price for this horrific transgression. I used to live in Agent Terry’s hometown outside of Detroit. I can say one thing for sure. They don’t forget their own in those parts and eventually every dog has his day. More importantly, keep up the good fight and if need be, myself and others will respond to your call.
Though I know it will be extremely difficult to find someone with guts and integrity in congress, that is what we desperately need. Johnny (I’m about to Cry) Boehner is not the man to hunt down and prosecute the corrupt thugs in DC, its not a cry baby’s job. Maybe Allen West needs a chance to show us “Army Strong” and sweep the place clean. He could start with Holder and finish with the impeachment of Obozo!
@ Cincinnatiun….I just knew the first time I saw Boehner cry in front of the cameras, the Congress had the wrong leader. Yes, it IS a sign of weakness in a man to cry in front of the American people, especially when the person is suppose to show great signs of strength and direction.
Oh, I know the ladies might have a different thought on this, but when the Speaker cries about his upbringing and what his life was like while growing up and all, how his parents worked so hard and he worked so hard to put himself through school, etc.m etc., etc.,
I was feeling like he would cry every time DNC ganged up on him.
Well, look what happened. Boehner had his cry and then postured himself in a position of compromise in a very important issue., telling Issa to back off from putting the screws to Holder.
You are right about Congressman Allen Bernard West being the man for the job as Speaker. He is a no-nonsense man who DOES have compassion, but also a strength to follow through with rolling some heads along the way.
Oh, and yes, I believe Allen West cries once in a while, but not in front of the cameras for America to see.
Redley
One word: B-I-N-G-O
Col. West is a man’s man… and he would make for a respectable Speaker.
This weepy easily persuaded individual is an embarrassment to the Congress, especially conservatives and the Republican Party. He folds at the first hint of disapproval from Obama and his gang, RINO doesn’t even cover him, he’s every bit the liberal that any Democrat is. Barry, Harry, and John, the three musketeers of the socialist movement.
Have we so easily forgotten Jonyboy and good buddy Obozo playing golf together. Buzzards of a feather flock together.
From what I can gleam from this media story, the Boehner story started February the 3rd by a blogger? CiR, WJ, and New Media deciced to run the story, so everybody would get wind of the story. I’m still wondering who started all this story? If no one heard this story from the mouths of the gulity, who’s ears was used? I for one do not like the First Amendment being used wrong by any media.
The story originated on the Sipsey Street Irregulars blog. Owned by Mike Vanderboegh, that is the website which broke the Fast and Furious story to the American public!
Doug Book and others such as Floyd Brown should be commended for taking up the story.
Darrell Issa’s denial of it added to its credibility.
The People must take matters into their own hands.
Republicans should resign from the GOP on principle, in express protest of House RINOs refusing to expose Obama for what he is, affording him and his minions cover by not investigating him and holding impeachment hearings.
The People should go on general strike against the lies and sedition of the federal government, picketing government offices to demand that the federal officers stop lying to the them, and comply with the country’s fundamental law. They should demand that their state legislatures adopt resolutions to the same effect directed to the Congress.
The federal government is at war with the People, a mole is in the White House, and the People must act. Money that would go to campaign contributions should instead go to a general strike fund that would be used to compensate picketers of federal government offices and the homes of federal government officials, including most particularly the White House and the offices and homes of members of Congress and candidates for Congress. Picketers can be drawn from the multitude of unemployed, cynically enhanced by Obama to foment unrest and garner votes.
How else can Congress and other federal officials be forced to do their duty?
Don’t these mainstream Republicans know how close their party is to splittng in two? True conservatives have had it with G.W. Bush, G.H.W. Bush, Bob Dole, John McCain and now Mitt Romney being shoved down our throats. The country desperately needs a man with some kind of spine from the opposition party to stand up in the Speaker’s position against the apparent coup taking place in D.C. right now. If Boehner likes the position but lacks the integrity and guts to do it, may I suggest that he step down and let Cong. Allen West step up. Pragmatism forces me to stat within the Republican system but my patience is running real thin. Blow it this year, Republicans, and a viable third party like The Constitution Party will arise and take your place.
Nothing short of impeachment should be considered…unless Holder voluntarily resigns.
Why aren’t we begging Col West to run for President? I’d vote for him and have some hope for our country.
I’m sure except for the few good ones we just elected to Congress – 95% won’t be re-elected. We’ve lost Fox news as the unbiased reporter, but the net still gives us enough information to make enlightened views.
I may not know the truth when I hear it out of one man’s mouth, but I do know a lie when I hear it. Funny how common sense works that way…we never believe one man’s word for anything.
West became a RINO early in what might be his only term.
I now do believe, that I was lied to when I called Boehner’s last week, oh they assured me that Boehner did not do it, and he said so,……………….I didn’t hear him say it, and I watch news pretty much 24/7………I reminded the staffer, if he didn’t he better hold another press conference!!!!! apparently they were forced into getting on with it, however, it will get stopped in it’s tracks like everything else………..boy are we ever in one hellava spot……….I never in my LIFE, thought I would ever be living in a commie/marxist/neo-nazi/ totalitarian world, SOCIALISM H!LL………WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN WILL MAKE SOCIALISM LOOK LIKE A CAKE WALK!!…………Don’t you see it all coming together???now that pos wants to reduce our ARSENAL BY 80%!!!! THIS LITTLE WEASEL IS NUTS!!! HE’LL BE ANOTHER KIM JONG III!!!!!
Boehner definitely needs to go. He has been a huge disappointment. But I am concerned about calls for Rep Allen West to be ushered quickly to a top tier position. I greatly admire him and he has a great mind, but his ‘aye’ vote for the NDAA has caused me to be very wary of him. I do not understand any member of our military, ‘ex’ or currently serving, who would support, let alone vote for legislation that is in direct violition of our Constitution.
What part of ‘shall not’ doesn’t he understand? I greatly applaude him for his ‘no’ vote on the extension of the unPatriot Act, but his vote for the NDAA has me completely perplexed. His statement that the bill ‘explicity exempts U.S. citizens’ is false. He acknowledges his error on his vote for the Pigford mess, yet cannot bring himself to comprehend how horrendous the NDAA is to our liberties.
More scrunity is needed when vetting potential candidates to any office.
It seems abundantly clear that John Boehner is not a man that can be trusted. He does not have the character to be a leader. He has no courage to fight for principles and is a chameleon and deal-maker. In short, he is NOT what this country needs as a Speaker at such a crucial time in our history and with a despotic lunatic on a rampage to trample our our liberties and constitution. Boehner is an appeaser and compromiser at a time when we need a fighter and leader. He most definitely has to be watched closely. Better yet we should get rid of him entirely. We can’t risk his kind of mediocrity and ineptness with Obama at the helm.
A pox on all the RINOs.
I’m shopping for another party.
America is in dire straits.
