At a tense meeting Wednesday of the House Committee on Homeland Security, the head of DHS was — in the opinion of an irate congressman who grilled him — less than forthcoming. In fact, says Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-UT), DHS boss Jeh Johnson may have tried to cover up the truth about four people with known terror ties who tried to sneak into the United States the day before 9/11.
Appearing on “The Kelly File,” Congressman Chaffetz expressed astonishment at Homeland Security Secretary Johnson’s vague and apparently evasive testimony before the congressional panel.
Chaffetz told Megyn Kelly that in the last year, close to half-a-million illegals have been caught trying to cross the “porous” southern border…and a lot of them were from countries other than Mexico or Central American nations.

Also at the Wednesday hearing, DHS Secretary Johnson tried to argue that Republicans can be blamed for the unsavory characters who try to sneak into the country. Johnson claimed that passing comprehensive immigration reform would provide incentive for illegals to come out of the shadows and register with the government.
The Homeland Security chief was quickly slapped down for that position, when he was asked if he really thought terrorists, drug smugglers and human traffickers would voluntarily step forward and identify themselves to authorities.
