Mitt Romney’s hypocritical position on the immigration issue is revealed in this slip of the tongue. Listen closely and you will hear him say the problem he had with illegals working on his property is that he is “running for office.” It isn’t a matter of conviction. Maybe that is why in Massachusetts illegals get free healthcare as a result of Romneycare.

I think he was merely emphasizing why it would be so dumb of him to knowlingly hire an illegal alien escpeically since he was running for political office. In any event, there's no indication he WOULD have hired an illegal alien had he NOT been running for office. Looks like a mountain out of a mole hill to me. And, no, I'm not a Romney devotee.
Of course the worker is going to falsify the documents, that's how they get away with staying here.

Jim, I agree with you – anyway, no matter what he did previously as Gov of Mass, he now knows what's important to the American people and not just Mass. He certainly pulled Utah out of financial problems when they hosted the Olympics so he knows how to improve financial problems. I am not a devotee of him either but I do believe he knows more than some of the other candidates.
Romney is a Liberal that's why the LeftMedia is pushing him. If he runs against Obama and defeats him in '12 the Liberal agenda will only slow a bit, not stop. Trouble is that the Republican Elite knows that. They want another Liberal in office too.

Your interpretation of Romney's statement is baseless. Another interpretation is that he knows that had he not run for office years ago, the fact that illegals were hired by a company he hired would not have surfaced as an issue. Yet another interpretation is that he thought of, and discarded, a response about the probability that many businesses have done business with at least one business that has hired illegals. Yet another interpretation is that he thought of, and discarded, a reply about how many americans, including politicians on both sides of the aisle, buy and consume food products grown or processed by companies that use illegal labor. While they are not mutually exclusive, none of these interpretations is less plausible than yours. You lose credibility in my book–which saddens me.

I don't believe that he hired illegals at all.. A firm that he hired to mow his lawn did
and when he found out about it .. he told them to get rid of them and they did.. so he didn't
fire them.. In the following months they rehired illegals and so he fired them. end of story.. Perry was getting hard up for attack material..
The bottom line is that the press is pushing Romney and Perry, both globalists and liberals by actions and beliefs, (Perry is a Bilderberger and Romney is for natl healthcare; pretty but lacks substance). They are afraid the plan for Marxism will fail under a conservative. We must take care to make sure they are not the picks. I will NOT vote for either of them.
USPatriot – so who are you going to vote for? Obama? Boy that would be a much bigger mistake than voting for anyone else. Both of these candidates have had their problems, Perry wants to let in illegals for jobs and am not sure what Romney wants on this subject, but I'm sure either one of these guys are much better choice than Obama. We certainly can't afford him any longer. Between him and his wife on their wasteful use of our tax payers money we need to get rid of them.
What needs to be done, in my humble opinion, is build a fence between Mexico and the US, pray to God ( the Christian God ), return to His teachings, balance the US budget, pray to God, install a verification system for workers, remove, lobbyists from Washington, pray, term limits for Congress, pray to God, ask Him for forgiveness and direction.

I've spent 25 years of my life researching and studying every aspect of, not just the restructuring of the U.S. government, but also the method of gradualism in which it will merge us into a one world government and religion. this guy is not my first choice that's for sure. However, if he hired a lawn care company and they have illegals working for them, I can't say it's Romney's fault. I recently had a house built (4 yr ago) and I saw the rooding crew and most did not speak much english and same about the siding and dry wallers. I had no say in it as I had a general contractor build the house. same thing I think for Romney. I could find plenty of other things to say about this guy that makes me want him to go away.

It requires hospitals to provide care to anyone needing emergency healthcare treatment regardless of citizenship, legal status or ability to pay. There are no reimbursement provisions meaning it was an unfunded mandate.
This forces the states to treat everyone regardless of their willingness or ability to pay. States are going broke following these laws and the taxpayers are left paying the bill.
I have checked with two reputible anti-illegal immigration groups and they say this alligation is not correct. Romney has very high marks from them and they say they that he idoes not support Amnesty which is why he did not get George Bush support the last time..

Consequentially enforceable laws can be done in minutes and completely eradicate the crises in two years. There are at least 4.6 BILLION horror stories out there (those south of our borders do not even make up 5%) and growing 80 MILLION new ones annually. The US takes in 1.5 MILLION LEGAL immigrants annually and this is 800,000 more than the annual estimated illegal’s and is most definitely 1.3 MILLION too many and when you add the illegal’s it makes it 2.0 MILLION too many annually. Even if the US took in 5 MILLION annually it would still not help the 80 MILLION new horror stories let alone the 4.6 BILLION!
The fertility rate from all immigration which is less than 20% of the total US population (so far) is 1.6 MILLION annually. The birth rate of the traditional 80% is 1.3 MILLION. In other words about 60% of the US’s fertility rate comes from less than 20% of the total population. For exact numbers source the US census which is the source for the claim that Latino’s will be 50% of total US population in less than 30 years. In this time frame the same will be true for “Moolum’s” for they are the LEGAL side of immigration and their current numbers match yesterday’s Latino’s numbers.
Had the government not opened the flood gates 30 years ago we could have reasonably accept only less than 250 thousand annually. But alas the government has made 250 thousand annually an unreasonable amount for future decades. And yes most definitely more scrutiny for those that want to enter!
Maybe I missed something in that I didn't hear Romney say, "hey, if I weren't running for office, it would be OK." You can infer what you want to infer from his statement, but to infer hypocrisy is a far and dishonest stretch. It is more reasonable to assume that his statement to his contractor was meant as a exclamation point and to point out that the contractor's employees would be closely scrutinized by his opponents because he was running for office which could result in the contractor getting into trouble or getting fired by Romney, which is what happened.

illegals, and even with the slip of tongue, it is not inconsistant with what Barry has done
if anybody recalls the big snow storms in DC in which Barry had illegals shoveling at the
WH and called them in for a two hour private paid lunch break, and gave the white workers
a 15 min. unpaid lunch break at their own expense.

I caught that when I was watching the debate. I also caught Perry saying, "your for amnesty" and Romney quickly shot back, "well so are you Rick". So far I haven't heard anyone comment on that. They just give the part of the illegals that Perry stated. This is one of the reasons I won't vote for Romney or Perry!
