Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell says President Barack Obama’s compromise on birth control coverage isn’t good enough, so he’ll push for a vote on legislation that would exempt any organization that has moral objections to the requirement.

McConnell says the issue “will not go away until the administration backs down.”

Obama’s latest plan would not force religious-affiliated organizations such as Catholic hospitals and collages to provide or pay for birth control for their employees. But it would allow those employees access free contraceptives directly from their health insurer.

  1. First thing’s first.

Anne Flaherty, you need to do more than spell check your articles. Who ever heard of “Catlolic collages”?

Now for the meat. McConnell is falling for the most obvious trick of the left. They are taking the focus off what Obama is actually doing by making the issue over contraceptives. Contraceptives are only a marginal part of the problem. By pushing for legislation to exempt organizations from paying for contraceptive insurance on grounds of conscience, you are doing just what they want. It makes the fight over contraceptives – which we all know it isn’t. The argument is over 1) the First Ammendment; and 2) whether or not Obamacare is even constitutional.

So lets get serious about this. Fight the battle we want to fight – over the Constitution – not over an issue Obama himself thinks is a wedge issue and preempted Republicans by accusing us of using it that way, while he’s the one who is. OK, it was a run-on sentence. I don’t care. You ought to get the point in spite of it. He’s the one creating the crisis to act on. He is declaring war. He’s even decided the battle grounds – contraceptives. We need to pull the issue back to where it belongs – as a rational discussion over the constitutionality of the bill as well as the constitutionality of the regulations Obama’s administration is creating.

  2. Your right Snidley, it’s a hide and seek game Obama’s playing. You are also right about it being against the 1st and 2nd Amendments.

I think he has another very important war lhe’s fighting. I believe we need a 2.3 children per marriage for us to continue as a civilization, He is chipping away at this with his pro-abortion stance on the issue. Contraceptives are another way to cut down the population.
