Matthews Calls West Point the “Enemy Camp”
Those tingles up his leg that MSNBC talker Chris Matthews gets from President Barack Obama (D) have apparently zapped Matthews’ brain. Analyzing Obama’s speech at West Point last night with Rachel Maddow and Keith Olbermann, Matthews observed
“It seems like in this case, there isn’t a lot of excitement. I watched the cadets, they were young kids – men and women who were committed to serving their country professionally it must be said, as officers. And, I didn’t see much excitement. But among the older people there, I saw, if not resentment, skepticism. I didn’t see a lot of warmth in that crowd out there. The president chose to address tonight and I thought it was interesting. He went to maybe the enemy camp tonight to make his case. I mean, that’s where Paul Wolfowitz used to write speeches for, back in the old Bush days. That’s where he went to rabble rouse the “we’re going to democratize the world” campaign back in ‘02. So, I thought it was a strange venue.”
So Matthews believes West Point, the first American military academy, is the “enemy camp” and “a strange venue” for their Commander in Chief, the President of the United States, to announce to the country and more specifically to the student and faculty audience who will be directly affected, his plans to increase troop levels in Afghanistan. Confused by his tingling brain and perhaps thinking Obama was refereeing a West Point football game, Matthews spoke of his surprise that a group of “young kids–men and women who were committed to serving their country professionally it must be said” didn’t demonstrate “a lot of excitement” because he “didn’t see a lot of warmth in that crowd out there.” (But Matthews is the sort who notices and finds important what others don’t; eg, Sarah Palin admirers are mainly white. All of these comments reveal much about Matthews but little about the situation.)

I am wondering why this speech was made from West Point….This is a national issue and
concerns people all over the United States. West Point is the place where they graduate
specialist trained leaders, not that some of them may profit from this, however, I think it
should be an address made to the masses, that all persons of this military age bracket
could hear and think on the situations they may be facing, etc.
Perhaps that is why others also thought it a bit unusual regarding this location.

Matthews is a fool and I'm reminded of Mark Twain's observation about "remaining silent and appearing a fool instead of opening the mouth and removing all doubt."

Obama delights in antogonizing the men and women who are sworn to uphold and defend the very constitution he intends to replace. The "progressives" who are nothing more than the communist / marxist enemies of our nations law are in politics and subverting our system as if it were entirely legal to do so long as the courts could be removed from our access. The book they go by is "The Constitution in 2020" and nowhere do they mention the legal process of amendment in doing anything they wish. On the contrary, they just do it and deny you legal venues to prevent it. I wonder how long it will take before the military gets it that "progressives" are the arch enemy of the US of A and Mathews and his ilk ought to be given an opportunity to speak at their trials for treason?

This is simply treason. I am the mother of a West Point graduate and my grandson will also graduate from the Academy in May. To call this the enemy camp is despicable
Idiot Matthews is frustrated the cadets and the entire audience, including Obama's own entourage could not feel the tingle in their legs. He knows, and may have even encouraged Obama staff to purposely chose West Point as strategic move to stage a much needed "Commander In Chief" image that is laughable. It did not work. Someone should have told Obama to follow the outline of the Gettysburg address that took three and one half minutes while the main speaker on that occasion huffed and puffed and labored for over two hours to make a speech no one remembers. This was an academic speech, repetitious, assuming the audience is part of the unwashed. He does not understand that West Point is a place for a fine education, and for the military career individuals, the theme is always, fight for country, American victory and your soldier always comes first.
Amen to that, as a military wife, mother and gradnmoter. My son graduated fo West Poibt and my grandson will graduate from this wonderful Academy in May. Mu husband is a ret. officer – I am deeply offended by these remarks. Despicable
The more I listen to Matthews, the more convinced I am that he is a babbling idiot. This man is considering a run for the senate and he would fit in well with the other nitwits that are presently serving as senators and members of the House of Representatives. Hopefully, the people that attended the president's address last evening, are getting a clear picture of how unprepared this man is to serve as president of this great nation. The enemies of this nation are Obama and his administration in conjunction with a liberal media that are bent on destroying our freedom and the entire financial structure of this nation. Wake up America before it is too late!

Oh my, bless you for your son and grandson. You have a right to be upset upon merely reading the phrase "enemy camp." Yet we all know that these men (and a few women) are committed to the US Army, and love their/our country. Now understand that our "President" does not love our country. Remember his 20+ years under a radical pastor who hates our country. HE is the enemy, one of those "enemies foreign and domestic" from which he has pledged (lied) to uphold. Since the Army is our country and Obama is showing he is more of a marxist, then TO HIM he is in the enemy camp. The treason is on his part, not on Matthews' part.

Thank you Mr Davis. I totally agree with you. I did not mention that my husband is a Ret Col and a Vietnam veteran. Not a West Pointer, but a patriot and a honorable man.
I do remember the 20+ years under the radical pastor, and I well aware of Obama's radical association.
But I still resent Matthews remarks.
Our military has always made us proud. Remember "The Long gray line has never failed us" a famous speech at West Point by a famous general.
To give our soldiers less than what they really need is really also despicable.

One of these days the president will realize that all attempts to tie himself to Duty, Honor, Country will fall flat because it only makes the contrast between himself and regular patriotic Americans all that more prominent! He has NEVER shown the first loyalty to America, from not wearing a flag lapel pin to not honoring the flag or pledge of allegiance.
Everything he does is based on PHOTO OP – but he just can't get it into his thick skull that all of his 'photo ops' just make it that more obvious that he is NOT part of the whole of our country…he THINKS he is above us, but really he is SEPARATE from us!

There is a reason why his wife honestly stated she had never before been proud of her country…I think they BOTH held that belief, along with their pastor of twenty years and from the videos, a majority of the congregation also shared their views. Alright, Comrade Matthews, where was the excitement in the speaker's voice and delivery? I refuse to call him the president until he proves his eligibility. How much more money will he spend to hide his past? You and I have to tell much more to get a driver's license, a passport, and a clearance to enter the White House. Oh well, forget about the last one. Also to serve in the Armed Forces of our country. I forgot, he never did that and now he is the Commander in Chief?

Why do people still act as if there are really at least two political parties in America? These people are all in collusion. If the "Republicans" really don't approve of what Obama does, they're more than capable of providing sufficient resistance to even things out. The same way Bush's brain was named Rove, Obama's brain also has a name, Brzezinski. Who really thinks a guy that spends $3 billion on cash for clunkers just to save $250 million dollars worth of gas has what it takes to run the country?
