The Pro-Growth Sequester No, it’s not Armageddon.
The Obama administration is whipping up hysteria over the sequester budget cuts and their impact on the economy, the military, first providers, and so forth and so on. Armageddon.
But if you climb into the CBO numbers for 2013, you see a much lighter and easier picture than all the worst-case scenarios being conjured up by the administration.
For example, the $85 billion so-called spending cut is actually budget authority, not budget outlays.
According to the CBO, budget outlays will come down by $44 billion, or one quarter of 1 percent of GDP. (GDP is $15.8 trillion.)

Look, whenever some crisis reaches the foreground and is talked about by the government, be utterly sure there is something just under the surface that is being implemented. Example: Sandy Hook was committed using 4 handguns. Ergo, the government cracks down on “assault rifles”. Crises: kids murdered, Solution: ban 30 round magazines. See how it works?
Following on, these tiny cuts, while getting all the attention, will be dwarfed by some massive spending project that people will overlook–most people don’t have the first idea what the definition of “sequester” is, but they know it’s going to ruin the nation, because we are told it will. A 1% cut (or gain) of just about anything will be hardly noticeable to us at the bottom of the ladder.
Meanwhile, Russian military exercises are publicized. Crisis: They are practicing nuclear attacks on the US. Solution: we cut military spending.

When you have children, if you don’t teach them the value of a dollar and to spend it wisely, they will never learn a thing in their life. If Obama was TRULY concerned about the economy…. leading the way by SHOWING and DOING, not by telling people how to do it is the answer. He has spent more money on things for himself and his family than any president alive….. and will continue to do it… then gripe about how this country is in bad shape. Leaders of all kinds show by ‘example’… not by telling them what they should do when they dont even do it themselves.
OH really? It might not be armageddon for some of you. But thousands of Dod workers are going to be furloughed one day a week for the duration. We stand to lose substantial amount of income for 22 weeks. We all have kids, homes to pay for, rent, insurance, food, and a myriad of other obligations that are going to be difficult to maintain. What affects my husband’s job is also going to directly affect the soldier, sailor and airman and their families’ daily lived and their readiness, because my husband’s career field provides a service for them every single day.
This sequester is going to ruind a lot of us.
I did my time in the Army and ‘Nam. I am disabled because of Government Bureaucratic morons. I was exposed to agent orange almost every day for five month. I have seen a lot of government employees in action in my life. The only ones I have seen earn their money are the Health care employees at the VAMC. I think we should give a permanent vacation to a fifth or more of them rather than a temporary day a week vacation. Consider yourself lucky your husband has a job because my ability has been impaired most of my life because bureaucrats make decision not knowing what they are doing or care. Destroying a countries capabilities to feed themselves by putting herbicide on rice paddies and infected their hog farms with tularemia is not my was of winning a war.
