When people think about conservative “all stars” in the Senate (if people ever actually think about such a thing), a few names probably come to mind. There’s Jim DeMint of South Carolina, who before leaving the Senate to run the Heritage Foundation—a conservative Think Tank—was the godfather of the tea party in the upper chamber. Then of course there is Rand Paul, son of Ron, libertarian champion from Kentucky. A little less known, but still with some name recognition, are Mike Lee of Utah and Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania, former head of the Club for Growth.

Of the 16 (#15 and #16 tied for 15th) National Journal’s ‘most conservative’ Senators, 13 signed NDAA, 2012 eliminating most constitutional rights for American citizens, including their #1 ‘most conservative’, James Risch, R-ID. Only Tom Coburn, R-OK, Mike Lee, R-UT, and Rand Paul, R-KY did not sign NDAA, 2012.

    Why am I not surprised that these so-called ‘conservative’ Senators signed away the constitutional rights of the sovereign people? And, who in their right mind could ever consider Mitch McConnell a conservative. That is like believing John McCain is a conservative.
