Millions of Americans hailed his election as an end to partisanship, a renewal of the spirit of compromise and a reinvigoration of the nation’s highest ideals at home and abroad.
Above all, as America’s first black chief executive, Obama symbolized the healing of long-festering wounds that were the terrible national legacy of slavery, the Reconstruction Era and Jim Crow. We would be, finally, one nation.
But after nearly four years in office, Obama has become a sharply polarizing figure.
His admirers believe he deserves a special place alongside Wilson, the Roosevelts and LBJ as one of the architects of benevolent government.

You know I have been voting for many years but this one has me so scared that I am not looking forward to the day after the election and it is my wedding anniversary. I am terrified that this terrorist will get re elected and continue to destroy country. It is so bad that I can’t think of any thing else. This is terrible to feel this way. I just can’t understand the people that are still for him after seeing everyting he has done to our country and how he has taken most of our rights and our freedoms that were given to us by our fore fathers. He has no feelings for how we all came about. He has his own agenda for America and it isn’t a good one for us. He is for himself and he wants control of everything and everyone and he doesn’t care who he hurts on the way there. Why can’t they see this. I just don’t understand, and I am so afraid to wake up on November 7th and find that he fooled them all again ad we have to endure his wrath for 4 more years or if he has his way till the end of time. I believe we won’t have elections anymore if he does succeed in this. He will be the ruler. Please wake up people. There is still time. God help us.

From Sunday’s 07 Sept. 2008 11:48:04 EST, Televised “Meet the Press” THE THEN Senator Obama was asked about his stance on the American Flag.
General Bill Gann’ USAF (ret.) asked Obama to explain WHY he doesn’t follow protocol when the National Anthem is played.
The General stated to Obama that according to the United States Code, Title 36, Chapter 10, Sec. 171…
Durring rendition of the national anthem, when the flag is displayed, all present (except those in uniform) are expected to stand at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart. Or, at the very least, “Stand and Face It”.

‘Senator Obama replied:
“As I’ve said about the flag pin, I don’t want to be perceived as taking sides”. “There are a lot of people in the world to whom the American flag is a symbol of oppression..” “The anthem itself conveys a war-like message. You know, the bombs bursting in air and all that sort of thing.”

Obama continued: “The National Anthem should be ‘swapped’ for something less parochial and less bellicose. I like the song ‘I’d Like To Teach the World To Sing’. It’s my intention, if elected, to disarm America to the level of acceptance to our Middle East Brethren. If we, as a Nation of warring people, conduct ourselves like the nations of Islam, where peace prevails – - – perhaps a state or period of mutual accord could exist between our governments ……”
When I become President, I will seek a pact of agreement to end hostilities between those who have been at war or in a state of enmity, and a freedom from disquieting oppressive thoughts. well in awaiting your response and awaiting moderation I went and checked out the facts you posted and needless to say it was a comical satire email that was being spread around. While I did not vote for Obumer I don’t like the man and his smugness. While these statements do indeed I believe reflect his opinions of America it only hurts us that are against him, we have to get our facts right and be ready to defend our words and actions with truth.
In reference to the comment made by “neverlickthehand” I could not find anything to confirm the narrative placed here as what was shown on “Meet the Press” on Sept 8, 2008. What I found was that it was Joe Biden on “Meet the Press” that day and nowhere could I find the remarks that were attributed to Obama on any “Meet the Press” program….. Sure wish it were true…. and it sounded like it was the way Obama feels but…….check out the link yourself:
