The Futility Of Gun Control

 The Futility of Gun Control

“A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.” — The Second Amendment

Whether it is college campuses, Amish communities, or other gun-free zones, bloodthirsty maniacal men will find a way to quench their cravings. Therefore, gun control laws do not work — because they are based on the erroneous assumption that criminals will obey the law. They don’t and won’t, hence leaving law-abiding citizens defenseless in the face of danger as so happened that tragic July evening at the Aurora, Colorado movie theater where guns were not permitted and a man who called himself “The Joker” went on a shooting rampage.

In addition to the need for self-defense, our Founders understood the bearing of arms was essential to protecting this country from tyrannical governments. Fresh on their minds was the revolutionary clash between the tax-happy British government and a population of armed and ragtag citizens with the dream of freedom burning in their souls.

Much to the dismay of gun law activists who claim the Second Amendment pertains solely to “militia” (military) service and who predictably crawl out from underneath their rocks after every mass shooting, the 2008 Supreme Court Case District of Columbia v. Heller ruled the Second Amendment indeed secures an individual’s right to possess firearms, regardless of military service. Nonetheless, these activists continue their march ever forward in an endeavor to infringe upon that which “shall not be infringed.”

It is really about perspective. Every life is precious. Each of the 12 lives snuffed out in that Colorado movie theatre is 12 lives too many representing untold numbers of family members whose lives are forever changed. No amount of gun control will bring them back, nor will it stop the next psychopath from taking his rage out on society. Zip. Zero. Zilch. If every last gun was shipped across our borders fast and furiously, murderers would still find a way to kill.

This conversation is not about gun control; it’s about people control. Gotham City, er, Chicago, has one of the strictest gun laws in the country–so severe that the laws were deemed as unconstitutional by the Supreme Court awhile back. But that didn’t stop former Mayor Richard Daley and current Mayor Rahm Emanuel from attempting everything in their power to maneuver through the gray areas and around the red tape, God bless them. According to the Chicago Sun-Times, over Memorial Day weekend, 12 people were killed by gunfire, and 45 were shot and wounded. In the time it takes to play a major league soccer match (90 minutes), 13 people were shot. By mid-June, murder was up 35 percent from last year with 228 people killed. Statistically speaking, our troops are safer in Kabul, Afghanistan than in Chicago. Where was that story in the national news?

Less might be more when it comes to gun regulation. According to the Washington Times, violent crime peaked 25 years ago when just “a handful of states” had conceal-carry laws. To no coincidence, gun sales have increased over the past four years, and currently 41 states have differing versions of gun-carrying laws. Yet violent crime has decreased according to the FBI in June. According to Pajamas Media, “States with the highest gun ownership have the lowest firearms homicide rates” and “States with the lowest firearms ownership average the highest firearm and non-firearm homicide rates.”

Gun control activists have it all wrong because they make incredibly naive assumptions about human nature. Given the chance others were packing heat in theater number 9 at the Century 16 in Aurora, Colorado, the story may have ended much differently for the cold-blooded killer.

  1. Well here we go again. Following their liberal socialist mantra of “never letting a good crisis go to waste” CHUCK U Schumer, along with the Cali socialists sisters Barbie Boxer/Diane Feinstein, as well as other liberal progressive democrap senators are trying to attach a magazine ban to the “Cybersecurity bill that just passed in the senate. Call, write & email your senators. Here’s the link to the article.

  2. Sooner or later, the anti-gun folks will come to realize this Country was forged with rifles, pistols, swords among other weapons.

My question to you is; what are you going to do when you get caught in one of the fast growing “Flash Mobs” or turn down the wrong street to face a dozen crack heads bent on robbing you or worse or, how about 10 to 12 doped up criminals breaking into your home to do as they dam well please with you, your wife and children?? This is NOT far fetched as it is happening in Houston Texas as late as last night.

I own a 150 acre farm in Louisiana. Had it not been for a rifle with a 30 round clip, I would be dead today from a coyote attack. 3 of the animals were tested and tested possitve for rabies.

A gun is an insurance policy. As society continues to decline, please give thought to just how you would face these situations WITHOUT a gun. My last call to the Police took 1-1/2 hours to get a unit dispatched and I was holding a trespasser/robber at gun point which the dispatcher was made aware of 4 times during 4 different calls to 911 to speed up help. An yes, the 3 trespassers WERE armed when I stopped them.

Will I turn over my guns to the Feds?? Not no but HELL NO.

  3. D’s want the guns gone because it will be easier to take OVER the country.

  4. If the theatre had not posted NO (lawful) GUNS allowed, it is likely the shooter would not have chosen this location to attack. He might have attacked elsewhere, but it would probably also have been another “victim rich” environment that didn’t allow lawful carry of firearms. It is just human nature to “cherry pick” the most conducive situation to most easily produce the desired outcome of whatever you want to accomplish.

It has been documented that in every case in the US but one, where three or more people were killed by an active shooter, the location of the shooting didn’t allow lawful carry of firearms. It’s just common sense.

  5. Why don’t we hear about the other guy in the Colorado shooting that numerious witnesses have accounted, Maybe because he’s CIA just following orders for the Obama gun control, It wouldn’t be the first time Obama has ordered Americans killed.

  6. Now write an article on US Code Title 10 Subtitle A Part I Chapter 13 Subsection 311 and Subsection 312.
America needs to read it and know it as it shows the intent of the second ammendment. Both subsections are important.

  7. The second amendment guarantees that the federal government has no right to interfere with a member of the body politic carrying a tool that can be used for self defense. If I have a cane, I can be armed, maybe not necessarily, but it could be. If I carry a rock in my pocket, I could be armed. The foolishness of those who want to enslave us, is exactly that – foolishness.
The concealed carry permit is only to tell the police to be careful around the carrier. I need no permission from anyone but God to carry a weapon concealed or in the open. God gave me the right to my life, and the power to protect it, against all comers, in uniform or not.
    Peace
